Facom 440s are by far my favourite, along with their ratchet spanners. I have normal combos by Gedore, wera, hazet and stahlwille and all of them are excellent, buy whatever you think is best. I also have a set of the FD+ snap-ons which are perfectly fine but overpriced for what they are imo...

I dont understand why soo many people seem to have an issue with vice-grips. All but the cheapest sets have worked fine for me over the years, with the ones from Milwaukee being the best purely for the large adjustor. The Milwaukee's aren't in any worse shape than my grip-on's made in Spain...

The only thing i use my SAE stuff for anymore is changing my tool air fittings. Thankfully.

6 point spanners are more hassle than they're worth.

Cheap torx wear quickly. For sizes up to around T30 buy 1/4" inch bits in boxes and use them until they show signs of wear, then toss them. Milwaukee and dewalt sell them in tic tac like boxes for a reasonable price. For anything over my bits are from Mac, and again i warranty them whenever...

A cheap one, i'd say no more than about £40-50. 1/2". Around 20 - 200nm should be fine for any diy job.

Do you have a shop air system? If so a proper compact air impact is both smaller and much more powerful than any of those options.

There's always some entitled a-hole who thinks there the centre of the universe claiming they've been mistreated by a shop or business. Work with the public for long enough and you'll see plenty.

If your engine is producing enough derbies to clog an oil filter completely it's likely already done for. If your changing out synthetic oil more often than once every 10k miles your wasting money imo. I change my oil every 10 - 12k and have no issues. There's absolutely no point in changing...

The standard of welding on a submarine will be substantially different to that done on a pair of old jackstands. I would replace them. A compromised stand is useless.

Because their simple to make and any competent manufacturer can churn them out in the thousands easily. Why bother setting up a factory for them when you can just order them.

I have a set, If the fittings that rusted you need to think about using them its usually better to just cut it off and put a new fitting on. Because of that they rarely get used.

How much rust are you dealing with here? If the line is badly corroded then its usually easier to just cut it at the fitting and flare a new one on. I have a few brands, but mostly use Facom and a Gedore set. What brand are you working on? VAG for example use 11mm as a common size for brake...

You can really tell who uses spanners to make a living and who buys them to sit and look at. If i was Wright i would tell you to do one.

That's ridiculous. For that price i want it to do the job for me. You can get 2 of the big Milwaukee 1" guns for that price. Or 3 of the new high torques with the onekey stuff, with some left over. Only an idiot would pay that.

Snap-on for the DIY is pointless imo. They're "deals" are the regular price for other brands of the same quality. You pay a massive mark-up for a brand name, the tools themselves are nothing special. Snap-on - 10-19mm spanner set - £385 Facom 7-24mm set - £70 Wera Joker 8-19mm - £127 Toptul...

You wont, the drill helps "polish" the edges on the pawls a bit then the atf gives it a bit of help. These arent smooth ratchets imo even after a fair bit of use.
