You could hook up a smart relay to a 240V contactor and control the compressor that way. But you'd need a low voltage transformer as well. Most likely easier to shut it off at the valve like others suggested.

You can get a 50k BTU hanging heater that runs on 120v with a 100lb propane tank outside of the shop. would be overkill but it should work nicely.
