Replacing my T5HO's with LED

When I built my 30x50 workshop (12ft ceilings) I wired the front half with six of the 8ft T5HO 4-lamp fixtures Home Depot used to sell for $69. It's adequate lighting for the front half of the shop, back half is mostly storage so I figured I could add lights there later.

Later has come, and now pretty much everything is LED, I can't even find the T5HO lamps I bought originally. I've been looking at something like the LED high bay lights from Home Depot but not sure about surface-mounting something like this straight against a finished drywall ceiling. Is it a fire hazard to mount these directly to the ceiling, not suspended from a chain?

My current T5HO fixtures are rated at 20,000 lumens and I certainly don't want less light than I have now, I'd prefer not to do a bunch of rewiring so I'm trying to stick with something close to 20k lumens so I can keep the same number of fixtures.

I'm confused, are you replacing your high bay fixture or installing a new one or retrofitting existing ones to LED?

Sorta both - basically I want all my lighting to be the same. I need to replace the six T5HO fixtures in the front half of the shop, and add new lighting to the rear of the shop.

I'd probably prefer to replace the existing 8ft 4-lamp T5HO fixtures with an LED of similar brightness, then I can just buy a few more of the same fixture and use those in the back half as well.
