I went to Advanced Auto and got a 1 gallon can of Gunk chlorinated parts cleaner. It worked great!!

It's been 2 days since I got the 3rd on the cabinet so today I wet sanded with 400 grit. While the cabinet dried I wet sanded the 3 drawers that I had already applied 3 coats to. When the cabinet was dry I put on the 4th coat it and by that time the 3 drawers were dry so I put the next coat on...

It's for home use. I haven't seen it yet in person, if it's in rough shape I won't get it but if it just has surface rust I'll clean it up. I've restored other cabinets and they turned out fairly decent.... certainly functional.

I've done a lot of research on the US General cabinets and they appear to be great boxes but all the reviews I read were of new boxes. I don't know how they'd hold up to years of use and I don't want to have to replace my box in 5 or 10 years. I tend to buy things that have a proven track record...
