    Interestingly, the Betamax, then later Hi-Fi VHS, had sound quality that surpassed any other tape format and was a great way to "save" music. I had a nice collection of music recorded from borrowed CD's. This was before any sort of home digital recording was available.

    I was in Lowe's this weekend and they had the 26" top and bottom marked at $199 each. Remarkable price. The larger boxes were on sale as well but not discounted as steeply. These are the Made in USA ("with Global materials") versions and they seemed well made.

    Yeah. I ordered them and went to pick up - sure enough, they were in the plastic pouch, with made in China on the back. It seems to me the packaging with the Made in USA on the flag background is new? I don't remember that from back in the day.
