No key - unlocking a vintage MAC toolbox

Friends, I have this vintage MAC drawer box, but it didn't come with a key. I tried unlocking it using a staple, didn't work. I tried using a flathead screwdriver, and that helps, but the drawers keep getting relocked. I want to just disable the locking mechanism so I can freely open all...

Found a deal on craigslist? - List Here!

Been looking for a Craftsman Commercial box for a few years, and this is the very first one that came up. Of course, I have no space for it right now - so hopefully someone else can grab it. The price seems reasonable(ish) $250 -...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

I know there is a CL deals thread. But I thought I would share this with vintage toolbox enthusiasts first - here is a super clean looking PROTO box in Phoenix area for $200. All drawers, too - no large lower compartment. I know some of you guys have a massive soft spot for PROTO - so hope it...

I like that A LOT! Don't sweat the consistency - I do that too, but comfort myself in the fact that my garage is "eclectic."

Need advise for getting rid of extra not collectible tool finds.

My experience is that Craigslist is a dead end. I posted on there before, seeing if anyone wants to get together and trade stuff - one guy messaged me a bunch of times, but it didn't go anywhere. Nothing else ever came of it.

Need advise for getting rid of extra not collectible tool finds.

Lots of good advice here. Restraint on the intake is probably the best part of it. BUT - I still wish there was a better way to trade stuff on here. Sometimes I see something so good, that even though I don't need it, I get it knowing that it will benefit someone else on here. It's a PIA to...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

I hope this is OK - if not, mods please delete the post. This morning at a garage sale, I found this KTA-231 socket tray stamped with 61. I don't have any real use for it - but if someone here is looking for one to complete your collection, I can help. I am NOT looking to sell - we can trade or...

Value of older MAC Tool Boxes?

Yeah ... $2,000 seems high to me. There is a MAC stack of similar vintage listed in Scottsdale, supposedly full of tools, and they have been asking $1,500 for a while with no takers. I agree with the valuation above - ~ $200 per.

Is this bottom box a Snap On?

I just picked up a late 40's / early 50's (no stamp) KR-53 (pictures in the Vintage Toolbox thread), so I would love to find a matching bottom! Do you mind sharing how much this one is selling for? I am in Phoenix FWIW.

Brought this guy home this week. From my research it's a KR-53 from before 1955 (but after 1953), since I can't find any stamps on the back. In REALLY nice shape - was obviously taken care of.
