The issue is that you have more water in the hose itself and it puts more back pressure on the pump. Sure it may be ok now but you are putting a strain on your pump. No way to measure it but it could shorten the life of your pump.

Durhams Rock hard water putty. Mix up what you need and fill the hole. its soft enough when dry that you can come back and get your artistic groove on and make match. Normally a putty knife and a wire brush gets me the texture I'm looking for.

I find its better to put a little on a bunch of times rather than try to get it right all in one go. Takes more time to let it dry but its better than sanding tons in my book. The hard way is to put tons on and sand it flat btw.

Umm They are not lint free. I do motorcycle suspension work and I can tell when someone wiped out the inside of fork tubes or wiped off the internals with blue shop towels on a previous rebuild. The blue fibers from the paper towel will be stuck in the valving holding them open. Just an FYI

I need to rebuild mine. I did a half *** job 8 years ago. Made my own gaskets. Honed cylinders and reused rings. It works but It needs new valves and it leaks oil. Thanks for the tip on the screws.

^^^^wont work. The connecting rod would get in the way. The bearing is probably locked in place with a locking compound. Best way to get it off is to heat it up. Heat up the bearing with a propane torch and I bet it would let go. Yes you will ruin the bearing but you will replace it anyway.
