I think the lift placement is key as I understand your concern. I’d think you’d want one of the doors lined up with the lift and the other sufficiently far way to space out the cars. I’d go with two doors. It’ll look better as well.

I’m guessing the lift cost is a small fraction of the cost of your garage. I’d expand your budget and get the lift you want.

Reminds me of the time my (teenage) daughter jumped into her car that was in the driveway and backed out of the driveway without looking back or noticing that my car was parked behind hers (not normally where it would be, but still). Damaging 2 of ones cars at the same time is not recommended. 🙁

I think you did a great job with the design. For your cars you have the size is fine. I was going through similar details a couple years back. Trying to get the garage tall enough for a lift to match the house and the neighborhood, and not look out of place, is an art.

I was referring to the lift from the original post. More concerned about his because it costs less than 1/2 of mine, isn't ALI certified, and already has a defect clearly visible.

How many more defects are hidden under the paint?

Personally i would not accept that reply. Ask them to provide you the finite element analysis of that area that shows that the stresses are acceptable with that crack stress concentration for full lifting capability. Crack propagation analysis is a difficult thing to do right. If it were me...

Curious. Why do you need the motor to lower? On the rotary I do need two hands - but one to release the mechanical catches and one for the hydraulics.

Nice lift. Was not aware of this brand when I was shopping. And I’m only an hr away from Gastonia. Ended up with an rotary spo10 which I’m very happy with.

I used a paint roller and squeegee for both. Very easy to put down that way. And used a brush in the corners.

smaller cabinet to match newage bold? I have several Newage Bold 3.0 cabinets in my garage. I have a spot where I'd like to add a storage unit/locker. Ideally it would be no more than 12" deep and 24" wide. Anyone know of where I could find one, that would match the look of the Newage...

I agree with ssdave’s range. I paid about $75 a sq ft for a finished detached garage with insulation and a mini split. But my quotes ranged from $75 to $120. And this is SC labor cost not NY which I’d assume is higher.

Can you ask the real estate agent and/or prior owner to measure the clearance height. A Highlander isn't 84" wide, is it?

Couple of questions. This is over a year old. Acid wash would work still? Wouldn’t acid wash affect all the mortar and therefore remove it where I don’t want it removed, keep the difference in look that I’m trying to fix?

My contractor, when he repaired some mortar cracking on the front of my garage, didn't clean off the mortar from the edges and face of the brick. So the portions repaired look different than the rest of the brick wall. So I'm thinking of either taking a Dremel tool or Angle grinder to these...
