What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Other than getting a fresh bag of charcoal out of the garage, not a damn thing. Too hot, too humid. Instead, I occupied myself with two doctor appointments and a PT session! Yay, getting older is fun. I did grill dinner, our deck is in the shade in the afternoon.

Killjoy. Nah, not really. The feel and balance are superb, so I don’t really care if they source the rubber heads or whatever elsewhere. If the hammer was priced at $40 or so, I would have left it on the shelf as I already have several other soft face hammers.

Not that I NEED more hammers, but I couldn't resist this - particularly when Menard's had them @ $16.84 (before the 11% rebate). 24 Oz. Made in USA. Had this dropped off from the Bezos bus: I liked the 10" version so I ordered the 12" in advance of some plumbing work. Honestly, these are...

I’ve found that cut-off tool to be invaluable. It also comes in handy for plumbing “disassembly”.

VIR is an awesome track to drive - as well as having a first-class facility. They used to serve their own bespoke beer in the restaurant (for after the track goes cold, of course).

I'm happy that it worked for you. I'm still pissed at Milwaukee.

Don’t feel bad about that Milwaukee M18 battery - you gave it a good shot at a rescue. FWIW, I’ve been down that exact path several times with similar results. Milwaukee M18 batteries are without a doubt the sh!ttiest battery platform I use. The YouTube gurus have much better luck reviving...

    The Porter-Cable A4 Worm Drive

I always wanted one of those, but like most tools, I have too many saws. I do have a Craftsman "Commercial" 4-1/2" saw (not worm drive) that I have used rarely. Probably not more than 2 hours time on it since purchased around 1980.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

The passenger sideview mirror on the Sienna became so discolored and stained, it was useless. I purchased a replacement mirror glass from Bezos for $15 or so thinking the problem was the mirror itself. So I removed the mirror from the housing and put it on the bench. Since it was already FUBAR...

Reunification started in ‘89 and was finalized in 1990. I still remember watching the Berlin Wall fall on CNN that was quite a time.

I’ll look into that, thx. For the main kitchen, I’ve had good luck with Symmons units. All of our domestic water runs through a 4 x 20 1 micron carbon block filter. That tends to keep a lot of crud, rust etc. out of the cartridges. Water lines for the sillcocks bypass the filter, of course.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Went to the garage to fetch some tools. Sadly the faucet in the (old) kitchen had started to leak. Surprised myself by having the original parts diagram from American Standard and the replacement ceramic cartridge is… discontinued- no longer available. Not from American Standard, eBay or any...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Took tools from the garage to give the condenser coils on the house AC units a deep cleaning. Performed said cleaning, put the fans back on and put stuff away. Deployed timers for drip watering in several spots around the garden. Took an afternoon nap.

Cast Iron to PVC union, Plumbers what am i looking at here?

I’ve used oakum and poured lead many times and I was never fully comfortable. All the joints sealed, but the whole molten lead meets moisture thing made me extra cautious and paranoid. FWIW everything passed inspections by some very picky inspectors. If you need to reconfigure, just cut off the...

If asked, I always recommend subcontracting that task to a third party. It’s just safer - in oh so many ways.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Unpacked and set-up a new 30 liter ultrasonic cleaner. The previous cleaner had multiple issues - fault on the board causing the display to imitate a disco ball (and unit inop) and a slow leak. It was only 2-1/2 years old, but I was never in love with it performance- wise. I could have just...

    Bandsaw wheels out of plane

All things are possible, I’d say it depends on how much you value your time. Who knows? You could spend a day fooling around with it and still end up with a tool that’s barely usable. If learning something in the process has value to you, go for it. Drive out the dowel pins, loosen the bolt a...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Laminated some MDF with Formica, drilled and tapped a bunch of holes in 80/20 (actually 4040 & 4080). Spent too much time looking for some hardware that I just bought. Went inside to order more from Bezos and called it a day. Hardware will be here tomorrow morning before 7:00, so not too much...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Glued more maple to MDF. Put some tools away along with the contents of a few Bezos boxes. Made plans that didn’t quite match up with my available energy, so I called it an early day after some time in the garden.
