Question: What do you guys do get the top bearing off of the spindle pulley? I cannot fit my jaw puller under the bearing and it won't slide off. I bought new bearing and would like to replace that one too so any ideas would be great!

There is the cool unique factor about them as well. I like having special factory options on my old stuff because it's just cool that they existed.

I am hoping to just source a quill and keep this one as a spare. If all goes well with this restoration, I have a feeling my dad will get a cool christmas present next year and I might need the spare parts :).

I have one screw that the previous owner tried to remove in the side of the head for the upper pulley that he kinda stripped trying to "restore" it himself but gave up over that screw. I have had it soaking in pb blaster all night, so cross your finger that I can get it out without drilling.

Right and that's the reason I bought this one. I probably could have bought one that was better cosmetically, and mechanically for that matter, but this is the first one I have seen with that attachment pop up on craigslist in years lol.

Has anyone ever disassembled one of these and replaced the bearing? The bear for the pulley sounds kinda rough and being as how I am replacing the other ones, I would like to do this one as well. Any idea on how to take it apart? Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Yeah i knew it was rougher than what I wanted but the slow speed attachment sealed the deal for me.

Yeah i plan on getting it blasted to take off the rust.

So after letting it soak in many coats of PB Blaster, I tore the entire thing down for the rebuild. Surprisingly, the pole separated from the base rather easily. Parts broken down and laid out. The quill has some pretty bad pitting and I don't think its really salvageable. Any idea...

So having wanted one of these for a long time, I finally broke down and bought one on Craigslist for 80 bux and he met me half way. Now, I know that it looks pretty rough, it apparently was sitting outside for awhile and honestly I think it may have been close to real heat based on the logo...

I need a quill for 103.24510 model (late 50s early 60s). I also need a logo band for the top, an original motor, and new pulleys. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Justin

I ended up getting mine today. It was china of course but after some rooting around I was able to find a USA set. After 45 minutes of dealing with the idiot at the counter trying to explain that I just wanted to exchange the china **** for the USA stuff, I was finally able to get a good set.
