    Makita vs Milwaukee

The 18V x 2 scheme has allowed me to extend my platform use considerably to lawn tools while retaining the ability to use a light single battery tool for overhead work. Although single 18 volt battery lawn tools exists they lack the run time and "grunt" for my use. The latest 18x 2 tool I...

    Makita vs Milwaukee

Without doing a bunch of online research how does one know which Dewalt tool is "low end" or " better"? Same with Milwaukee? Is it obvious when you are getting a deal vs yesterday's dud? I've seen a couple of vids where people feel tricked by a sale or in the case of DeWalt a package deal...

This is the point I tried to make earlier.

    Makita vs Milwaukee

Battery adaptors will only solve a problem inside a given voltage range. Like M18 to LXT or vice versa. You cant run a 40V tool with an adapted 18 V battery, or vice versa.

    Makita vs Milwaukee

This rule means you dont get the tools you want or need because no one platform has it all.

    Makita vs Milwaukee

It'll be interesting to see what the quality delta may be over the next 10 years and X jobs. The Makita batts seem exceptionally well protected thermally as they should be for the money, but no doubt they are overpriced. Which Makita battery change up are you referring to? Could you not get...

    Makita vs Milwaukee

Bosch is great, but the lineup is thin comparatively. Makitas 18V and X2 36 volts give me a super wide range of tools from the garage, to woodworking to yard tools with one platform.

    Makita vs Milwaukee

The only time I switch is when I cant get the tool I want from Makita. I think I'm up to about 20 Pcs now. I've yet to wear out a makita tool, even my 9.6 V screwdriver with stick batteries still works fine. (I have had batteries go bad but thats expected if you actually use them) That said...

    Makita vs Milwaukee

I like both but prefer Makita whenever I can get the Makita version of a given tool. My town has a small family owned Makita shop where I can get actual service and they take care of me. I tried Dewalt about 15 years ago and wore out a saw and screwdriver kit building a deck and a shed.

Recommend me a battery charger (auto/RV)?

Between my CTEKS and my Optimates I like my Optimates better - I'd go for the 6 gold.

    The (unsexy) Washer/ Drier Thread . . .

Try to find a reversing dryer today... Have 2 houses full of Miele. Love that stuff.

    Wobble Fix Extensions

I have the Koken spark plug kit with the dedicated torque wrench and wobble/lock. The wobble & lock works fine for me. The real win for Koken to me - is the thin wall of their plug sockets and holding clip.

A dilemma with having both solar and a separate meter for EV charging

Makes sense thanks. What inverter are you using?

A dilemma with having both solar and a separate meter for EV charging

I agree - technically it works. In california you are you are compelled to sign a contract or you cant do anything. The entire process runs at the speed of the permits. The current nemm 3.o contracts here cant produce a roi that make sense because fo the imposed fee structure. The solar...

A dilemma with having both solar and a separate meter for EV charging

If the only way solar can work is to buy a battery and sell power back to the grid at peak time, then frankly I dont need the grid anymore. (FWIW I have 8K of panels and a nem 2 contract) Problem is Cali doenst let you defect from the grid. Its illegal. Now having pulled off a total hat trick...

A dilemma with having both solar and a separate meter for EV charging

I was dubious if his production claim. Seems to me he has a great deal. With Calis Nem. 3.0 the whole point is to force you to buy a battery and arbitrage power. I cant see an ROI in it today.

A dilemma with having both solar and a separate meter for EV charging

Yup. Saw this coming further out than a George Forman punch. The bill is due for the choices made to pursue the goal of decarbonized green electricity, and as was foretold - it's incredibly expensive. The sheep now faced with the consequence of saying yes to every utopian dream on a ballot...

A dilemma with having both solar and a separate meter for EV charging

First he said "Last I checked I was at 36,000 KWh sent to the utility and around 19,000 KWh consumed." which is where I got 17,000KWH net exported. Then he says 2500 later in the thread. Without knowing the actual cost of the meter and install it's pretty hard to figure out an ROI. The OP...

A dilemma with having both solar and a separate meter for EV charging

Why bother with the second meter if you have net exported 17,000 KWH? At any given time you will have a huge offset bucket to charge from thats already paid for. Thats 220 fillings of a 77KWH battery. At 3M/P/KWH thats 51,000 miles of driving. Just keep it out of accelerators.
