    Driveway trench drain

I generally specify aco drain on my projects. You’ll want to specify a higher load range because of the Freightliner. Also, if I recall aco will also size the drain but it’s been about 10 years since I’ve used it since we now design it ourselves.

Snowblower in garage, keeping area clean

After I brush off the snow I pour several buckets of hot water over it to melt the remaining ice and clean off any salt brine from blowing out the driveway at the road.

    old firefighters tool?

It’s a spanner wrench for 2.5” and 1.5 “ fire hose. The gas shut off is in a wedge end in case you need to pry something small. These are usually mounted in pairs with a hydrant wrench on fire apparatus. That said, the civil defense logo cast into it certainly makes it older and interesting.

    Extension Cord Tags

I used to write the length on the plugs, but never had a solution for black ends. And, what happens when you shorten the cord? (oops!) I later decided to know both the length and gauge, so I tried p-touch labels but never was happy with the results. I now print the data in several rows on a...

Rustoleum spray cans - absolute garbage

Unfortunately rustoleum spray cans have sucked for several years now. I love the paint but getting only a few shots out of a can isn’t worth it.

    Used Pole Barn?

My brother in law had a 1980s pole barn get damaged in a tornado and wanted to salvage it. It was framed with ring shank nails which basically shredded any wood you pulled apart. Same problem with the metal siding- the nails pulled out of the panel before the wood.

    Garage door opener light bulbs?

Cheap LEDs are the issue. I don’t remember the exact standard, (maybe FCC?), but bulbs that meet that standard are ok for no interference. If the bulbs don’t have it, they are suspect to cause the interference.

Anyone here use journals at work or home?

I use simple spiral notebooks to keep track of project notes, calculations, and sketches. I use one per project, and then scan them onto the server when the project is complete. I’m cheap, so I just buy them at Target when they have back to school sales.
