I cut open my air compressor tank. Take a look..

I put an automatic drain valve on mine when I bought it 8 years ago. I wired it to the motor to blow for 10 seconds.

    Welder storage in unheated garage.

I keep my 211 in the garage, heat is at 35 degrees minimum year round. Before the heat, my tools would get rust.

Chin up bar from the rafters?

I need full hang. I hate to say it but my stronger days are behind me. Lower back issues but yes, pull ups and chins. If I'm below 200 that probably means I'm dead.

Chin up bar from the rafters?

Wow, that is fantastic! I may just do this. I love dips. I just don't know about the strength of the studs in my wobbly attached garage.

Chin up bar from the rafters?

What I am considering is running full length 2x4s with clips staggered and bolting through them the bar mount.

Chin up bar from the rafters?

Hey everyone, I'm looking to help myself out a bit as I don't have much time just yet for the gym. There isn't any secure place in the house for me to mount a chin up contraption so I am looking to hang it from the 7' rafters in the garage. My plan for the bar is to either get something premade...

Is it always safe to put an impact on a strut nut?

I've watched and known of people air busting down struts and axle nuts and have nothing but problems. Can you get away with it? Maybe but torque specs are stated for this very reason.

If you had $4,500 to spend, what would you do?

Not sure that 4500 would cover much for me other than aiding what needs to be done. Expand? Lift roof height? I desperately want a lift but 8 foot rafters screw that up. Most of the things needed to improve without renovation would just be paint and flooring. I've got heat and ac and 220 self...

The Myth of the Two Car Garage

I bought my house ten years ago with an attached 2 car garage. If memory serves it is 20 wide and 24 deep with a 16 foot wide door. 2 feet of brick work for the den's fireplace makes for very small space. One tool box at the back of the garage, a nice large one on the side with a bench to boot...

    Timing gun recommendations?

Well, my old Sunpro trigger activated, no advance light is just too dim. I have to use it in very dark conditions in order to get a read. I think she's ready for the bin- or if someone wants it. At any rate, I would like a trigger activated, advance style gun with bright light- more features...

    Compressor Automatic Drain

When I first got my compressor I wired in my timed drain. Thing is, it would scare the living **** out of me when I was under a car - so that had to end. What I did was wired it to the electric motor power and set it to max blast (ten sec). Works great. If I'm not using it, I blast it out once...

Good air compressor reel and non leaking fittings?

I have a 5hp 60 gal Central Pneumatic air compressor that I got from HF 6 years ago. It's been great (loud as all get out) for many projects and repairs. Over the years I've done some great reliability mods on it like a heavy duty pressure switch, a mag box and an automatic drain but one thing...

    Sockets, I need sockets

Tekton Shorts and talls it is. They come with their own trays and well my 72" box was made fun of due to a low amount of sockets cast everywhere around that drawer. I have a lot of projects and things going on, so avoiding a higher cost is best at this time. Thanks Guys

    Sockets, I need sockets

I hate to admit it but I am very short on sockets and I would just prefer to order a complete set of 1/4,3/8, 1/2 in both metric/standard/tall/short/6/12 point; the whole deal. Any recommendations? I can spend a grand but would rather not...

    Re insulating attached garage questions

I've been told several things. 1) The way it was without heat was incorrect due to having no plastic between the rafters. 2) With heat was going to rot out the roof and now 3) It's losing a lot of heat through the added 3 vents that were included in the roof job. So I guess I'm looking for the...

    Re insulating attached garage questions

Pretty close to being up against. I was thinking of getting functional airflow by modifying the soffits and putting up thicker insulation as well.

    Re insulating attached garage questions

:headscrat Alright let me describe the scene before I ask how to approach this mission! What I have is an attached garage that was already insulated with R11 on the walls and underside of roof. The roof underside has the insulation attached at the supports (joists?) from the top of the wall...
