Exhaust fan good idea or no

Ran a school building in NYC, with humidity as bad as Houston during certain times . When first occupied the building's 3 blower systems in the build were on 24/7. Until I put timers on the blower to turn off at night, in the spring/fall I would would open the building at 6 am and would have to...

Exhaust fan good idea or no

What make model size is your present mini split? Is the ceiling/slab insulated ?. My garage is 200 squ ft larger than yours, with a 12k Fujitsu heat /cools from -7° to 101 ° no problem, at a cost about 15-$20 per month. Why would you want just a fan? "an exhaust fan would only be usable for...

    Attached garage fire, ugh

As to smoke smell...... Spray undiluted vinegar on any thing which was hit with smoke. It must be thoroughly wet, dripping wet or it will not kill the smell. Had my parent's house go up, used about 25 gallon of the cheapest vinegar 5% I could buy. Might take 2 rounds of spraying but it will...

    unloading/moving a 60 gal compressor

Two world class weight lifters could do it...... but not normal humans beings with the pump and motor in place. Close to 400 lbs to lower it to ground level.

Mini split for cooling / dehumidification only

Do you want an oil to provide a seal or do you want a dense coating of LocTite sealant on the Flaretite seals to do the job, also I place a small amount of Loctite sealant on the back of the flares. When you replace the King valve caps, use Loctite blue on the threads, valve cores and the caps...

Mini split for cooling / dehumidification only

Since you already had an expensive leak, even if you re-flare, get assurance with Flaretite seals...

    unloading/moving a 60 gal compressor

This thing weighs, have a Curtis but horizontal, close to 540 pounds this vertical unit is dangerously heavy. As mentioned if you can not get a truck lift delivery to your garage cancel it. Even if you disassemble it the compressor and tank will required 2 people just to lift and place on a...

    DIY Economizer for Garage?

25 watts at the lowest speed likely 170 cfm, not much. Your far better off with a window AC.

Drywall Finish Costs - Mud and Tape

True but If you want your taping job to look good it requires a very quick sanding basically to catch small high spots. Between coats an average room takes about 25 minutes of sanding between coats (wall and ceiling). Yes the "professionals" do not sand between coat but the results show it.

    Heating/Cooling shop

Good reminder Fitter30 to watch which chemicals to use on coil fins. Was not referring to use Lysol Tub and Tile @ foam on the fins, just the plastic filters.. According to the SDS it does not contain citric acid but there are safer PH neutral chemicals to use on aluminum fins.. Looked it up...

Mini split for cooling / dehumidification only

Did not pay to the machine shop pictures, sorry... Temporarily you could blow fiberglass insulation up in the ceiling, so what if it gets wet as long as you get to the leaks in a reasonable time, water will travel through fiberglass, not adding much weight, when wet it will dry out in a few...

Mini split for cooling / dehumidification only

Unlikely you could not suspend a ceiling with a high R value insulation or the building would not be standing today due to it's first heavy snow decades ago. Please take a couple pictures of the interior of roof and post. Drop ceiling with insulation are very light compared to a normal ceiling...

    Heating/Cooling shop

As to dust.... Without wood working it takes 5 minutes to clean the filters on my Fujitsu mini splits, remove filters, spray with Lysol tub and tile cleaner foam, rinse, reinstall. Once every year or two, clean the internal coils with PH safe coil cleaner, roughly 10-15 minutes. With a great...

Humidity control: what to do first?

Not during 1 am to 8 am in the morning, spring or fall , unless you want gallons of water condensing on everything, except in a couple very dry states .

Mini split for cooling / dehumidification only

What is damaged ?, if only the fins, it is considered cosmetic, also fins can be straightened with a coil comb. Another point with multiple mini splits, assuming they are the same make, it would pay to pickup spare parts from auction or Ebay. Further down the rode Ebay or FB will have cheap...

Mini split for cooling / dehumidification only

Un-insulated? do you have a nuke reactor or do you enjoy burning money? Insulate the ceiling at least, then think about mini splits. Single zone mini splits are very efficient compared to multi zone units. aside from providing redundancy. Have garage which is 1/3 of yours, fully insulated...
