    Above 1200 Sq/FT My 36x60 Post & Beam Shop

I ended up ordering the FinDoor. We have a local customer with one, I went over and checked it all out, it's a VERY nice door. Cost was about half of the powerlift door quote. It will be a 4 panel door, I spec'd it with windows in the middle 2 panels only.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT My 36x60 Post & Beam Shop

I need a little help spec'ing a door for this opening. I need this height so I can drive my backhoe in with the boom locked up. Due to the roof & beam arrangement, a traditional OH door will not work. I have considered fabricating a swinging double door set using aluminum U-channel and rigid...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT My 36x60 Post & Beam Shop

Nothing goes quickly enough when your project is the filler work, but it looks like good progress since I don't post often! I am going to use a traditional OH door in the 14W x 10H opening. The 12W x 13'7" opening to the far North however is a challenge. I am kicking around a few options...

Building a new 40x60 and looking at flooring options?

I apologize to derail, but may I ask why you want tile in the shop? Why not a nice finished concrete slab floor?

    Above 1200 Sq/FT My 36x60 Post & Beam Shop

South wall framing complete, windows flashed and installed. The windows all came from some form of 2nd hand source. Craigslist, the dump, habitat for humanity.

More help today though not much visual progress. East/back wall windows final installed, and 2' plywood strip installed along bottom of wall.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT My 36x60 Post & Beam Shop

Yesterday was another Friday when I got some help at my place. Every day's work is a little more progress. North wall is just about ready for siding. Windows final installed, all gaps sprayed, wood stripping in place. I decided to do the bottom with a 24" strip of 3/4 plywood, for strength...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT My 36x60 Post & Beam Shop

Got a little more help yesterday, north wall insulation is done, ready for 1x6 strips to tighten it up and hang siding from (after a few gaps are filled with spray of course). Got a start on South wall girt and window framing. Just for fun, a picture of my "day job." Taken on...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT My 36x60 Post & Beam Shop

Time for an update. This year we got the last of the concrete put in, with drains located for the butcher shop area location, and a trench drain where I plan to park some cars. Utilities all got moved around, propane tanks relocated, lines run to house, garage, and shop. All new power...

1/2" to 1/4" Square Adapter Socket

There's a reason they don't exist, but you probably already know that. Can you not use a 1/2-3/8 + 3/8-1/4? Mind if I ask why you need this piece?

    Alternative vehicle lift types

Thanks all for the feedback. Every decision in life is an exercise in compromise. I really like the in-ground idea, but 12k max capacity is a touch close for comfort, that's right around what the 4500's weigh. I'm sure a margin of safety is built into those ratings though. Does anyone know if...

    Alternative vehicle lift types

Can you snow me what you mean by a trolly jack? Search engine returned a bunch of what I (and the rest of America) would call a floor jack. Rotary SL212 looks really cool. Thanks for the tip. I really like that idea. I already have a floor, hopefully there's a way to install it after the fact.

    Alternative vehicle lift types

A 2 post lift is going to easily be the most cost effective, thus I will likely end up accepting the associated compromise. In the world of automotive lifts, car-through-diesel-pickup sizing is nowhere near "one size fits all" though I understand what you are trying to convey. Thoroughly...

    Alternative vehicle lift types

My not-yet-finished shop has 2 drive in bays with 19' between sonotube piers. 2 and 4-post lifts are great, but I am not sure I want to commit the permanent space they occupy. I want a lift system that accomodates everything from a low sports car up to a medium duty 4x4 truck. I operate a...

Infinity Impact sockets - Large Metric

The ebay listing itself states China. I saw that one, I considered it, didn't go for it. If I were to have ordered an individual socket I would have gone for that Williams linked earlier for $20+freight. Never did hear back from the seller about that freight cost though. I ended up...

Ball joints on my Ram 4500. Upper is threaded with a 60mm hex head, torque spec ~300ftlb. That Williams looks good. Thanks.
