For $99, it doesn't seem like that bad of a deal.

They are CR-MO so that is nice.
The thing is are they !
They also phosphate coated and permanently laser etched !
coating and etching looks a little suspect .
I don't buy any impacts that not roll stamped or look sloppy production finish, had good results with Taiwan impacts and some chinese ones can be good but it more risk of coming across total garbage .
I seen some of the chinese sockets that paint rather than proper coating/etching and it not uncommon find they using cheaper steel alloys than what showing on the product/details . Unfortunately most of those details only come to light once in hand/used .

Taiwan makes great stuff in my opinion.

When it comes to larger sizes of socketry, it is harder to screw up on tolerances
Agreed that tolerances are generally less important the larger you go. Sizing aside some cheap sockets rely on bulk rather than quality steel for strength which can be a problem in tight quarters.
OP says ball joints? Some have a rather thin hex so the socket's chamfer is also a consideration, albeit nothing a grinder can't fix.

I do agree with you on that, but I can't find a COO anywhere. They could be Taiwan which isn't a problem IMHO.
The ebay listing itself states China.

I saw that one, I considered it, didn't go for it. If I were to have ordered an individual socket I would have gone for that Williams linked earlier for $20+freight. Never did hear back from the seller about that freight cost though.

I ended up contacting this seller and made a package deal for a set of everything he had from 42-65mm, plus a 34 which for some reason I didn't already have. US made, twice the price of the Chinese kit I asked about, and best of all, the decision is made and I can move on with my life.
