Do you ALWAYS use jack stands? Help settle the argument.

I personally use jack stands all the time, no matter what because I was always taught that a jack is for lifting and jack stands are for supporting weight. However, as long as you arent crawling under the vehicle, youd probably be fine just using a jack. I mean, even if it were to fall, as long...

Why are Makita Batteries so much more Expensive than Everybody Elses?

Because it says, "Makita" on it and they know people will pay whatever the price is.

    Stand by generator upgrade

Id look at a 30kW unit. That way, you know that you have enough capacity. Take it from someone who is a former Generac generator tech.

Koken USA 4th of July Sale

Bummer. I missed it. To be fair, I dont really need any more tools though. LOL

Are all the little pancake / hotdog compressors basically the same?

Theyre all the same until you look at some of the silent ones. Once youve had a small silent compressor, youd never go back to one of those pancake ones.

Is 3/8" Pneumatic Impact Still Relevant?

They certainly have their place in lower torque situations where a small gun is nice to have.

    Icon Combination Wrenches

Check out Project Farm on Youtube. You might be surprised. Its funny you mention Gearwrench because they tend to do among the worst. Ive got a set and theyre OK but they certainly dont compare to the nicer brands out there (my Tone set is a work of art compared to them) and I certainly...

    Icon Combination Wrenches

Theyre good wrenches. Easily as good as anything Snap-On at a fraction of the price. Theres been number tool tortune tests done and the high-end stuff doesnt perform any better than the Icon stuff does.

    Koken Ratchets

I wouldnt even consider anything less than 72 teeth, especially if its only a $10 difference. If you looking at Ko-ken, $10 shouldnt be an issue.

    sidewinder vs worm drive

I always used sidewinders and recently decided to take the plunge on a Makita hyponoid saw. I worm drive seems to have a lot more torque than a sidewinder, although the blade is noticably slower. You can cut anything with it and the saw never seems to bog down. The nice thing about the Makita...

Portable Tool Box; Craftsman vs Husky

I used to love Craftman and I actually currently have a Craftsman 2000 Series tool chest but Id go with the Husky. IMO, the quality of their boxes overall is just better than what Craftsman is putting out. Sadly, Craftsman is kind of just crusing on name recognition these days.

    socket organizers

I just use the plastic rail that came with my Husky sockets. They make a magnetic one that Ive considered but the one thats supplied with the sockets seems to work just fine.

    Using only impact sockets

For the most part, if you use impact tools, it is better to just have impact sockets because having both is kind of redundant. Ive got chrome sockets in 3/8" for my manual ratchet, cordless ratchet and air ratchet and I have a set of 1/2" impact sockets that I use with my impact wrench for...

New or used. What do you guys usually buy?

Usually new. Almost all of my tools are either cheapies from HF or high end Japanese tools (Ko-Ken, Nepros, Tone and Engineer) and my power tools are Makita. All that were bought new. Theres nothing wrong with old tools though. Ive got an old Craftsman egg beater drill and a bit 'n brace that...

    Harbor Freight, Made In Taiwan?

Thats certainly not a bad thing. Some of the best tools are made in Taiwan, so Im sure Taiwanese tool boxes would be just as good.

Looking to redo my ratchet drawer with some new tools. which brand would you go with ? 1/4-3/8-1/2 looking for great quality.

If you want great quality, forget about Gearwrench. Just go order you some Ko-Ken or Nepros. It wont be cheap but they will last several lifetimes and you wont find better quality.

    husky ratcheting wrenchs

Both are made by Apex and probably come off the same line. Given the choice between the 2, Id see no reason to choose Gearwrench over Husky, especially considering the no-hassle warranty policy with Husky.

Anyone actually set fire to something with sparks from the grinder?

Ive set rags on fire before. Shower them with enough sparks and they will catch fire.

    Vessel screwdriver handle styles

I like the ball grip. I find that its very easy to hold and control and are very comfortable to use.

    Masterforce locking extensions

Both are made by Apex, I believe. Honestly, Id just go to HF and get the locking Pittsburghs. Probably the same thing and cheaper than MF or GW.
