We went to the show about three years ago, very impressed. Even got in a tour of the plantation while we were there.

@larry4406 the “leverage” tool that I used to take out the incorrect bends was also used to add the correct ones back in. It’s nowhere near as consistent as a slip roll, but you’re welcome to try it out if you think it would do the trick More insight is a good thing

Real big tree or wrap it around a tire. Does it have to be 3/16? 1/8 would make it so much easier. Other than that, find someone with a slip roll.

Had an insurance job in the shop, a collaboration with a local collision shop. One of those fancy, old-time looking hearse had a backing up run in with a yellow pole. The mirrors on this thing are on top of fender mounted spare tires, and let's just say they leave a lot to be desired. There...

    welding pinholes in sheetmetal,TIG?

For MIG wire on sheet metal I prefer using ER70S-7. It has a slightly higher Manganese content for better wetting, ie: flowout. So with the machine adjusted correctly, you'll get flatter weld dots that are actually easier to planish than the typical MIG weld. Adjusted correctly would be...

    welding pinholes in sheetmetal,TIG?

Most US automotive sheet metal is 19 gauge (.0418) to include floor pans. The strength comes from the various ribs that are pressed in the panel and actually make it seem thicker because it doesn't move much.

Should have the chrome plating going on this week... Saturday the truck participated in a poker run, I had invited a friend to ride along. He was one of those guys who appears to think that old vehicles doors don't close properly and need to be slammed. Normally I speak up rather...

Since early last year, we've been making trips to the west coast to tend to my father-in-law, who has been diagnosed with dementia. We recently moved him out here to the east coast where we can better keep tabs on him and have been in the process of disposition of stuff. So sadly, the wagon...

Larry, I'm not a big fan of pointy ends on body hammers, they tend to add damage the other direction. So if someone has a ding to remove, the ball end performs more of a PDR type repair than the spikes that I've removed from both these hammers. They also come in handy for concave areas or...

A set of ball end hammers getting ready, these will be heading to Ohio. The shorty has a 2-1/2” radius on the face and a 7/8 ball, the tall one has a 3” radius and 1” ball.

Had a fuel line tee for a Honda Shadow that snapped, I'm led to believe this is a common occurrence. Perhaps it shouldn’t have been made of plastic. The plastic replacement was not available until next week, so let's see if we can come up with a more permanent solution. While I have 1/4”...

Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

Think I’ve finally found a decent match to the blue point body hammer’s red paint. I’ve tried countless varieties of red spray paint, and think that Krylon has produced about a dozen different shades of Cherry red paint. But the one under this label seems to be the closest I’ve found...

A buddy of mine has a local motorcycle shop, and he'll stop by when he gets something real challenging. Enter yesterday, his latest repair had a severe wobble on the rear wheel per the owner. A test drive verified this, and they found that most of the bearing was gone on the one side. Given...
