    Torx Plus vs Ribe

So I've been sniping cheap tools on Temu and EBay for the last couple of years because I am 71 years old. My daughter has expressed an interest in keeping my tools when I am gone, so I've been looking for the newer stuff since she has a '21 Rav 4 and my wife has a 2018 Crosstrek. I told my...

I have all 3 sizes of the shock absorber oval sockets for the top of the piston shaft. I only needed one size, but I was afraid of not having the correct one, so I ordered all 3. A137, A138 and A139.

Snap-on Hard Handle Swappers - Logo Question

I had a couple of Snap On black handles disintegrate due to age (1978). After trying off and on to get replacement handles from Snap On, I finally bought a 3 pack of these: https://blankhandles.com/ Very happy with the results. I put one on a long gasket scraper and the other on my long pry bar...

Craftsman Metric vs Imperial Adjustable Wrenches

I saw a metric adjustable wrench in the early 70's. The thread pitch on the adjuster was metric according to the hanging card it was fastened to. I should have bought it, I could have won a lot of bets with it.

What grease to pack loose ball bearings with and how many to use?

Back in the mid-70's, I bought a Shimano Kit that had a small tub of grease. Very light weight that actually felt like it liquified when squeezed between my fingers. I never used it on anything but the wheel hubs. I was afraid it might run out on a hot day.

Which twelve point sockets are required on modern vehicles?

I bought Tekton deep and shallow 12 point set in 3/8 drive 3 years ago, just in case. Smaller sets are $95 currently. Haven't used them yet, but I'm ready. I got paranoid when I came across an external Torx socket on a Chevy steering column and didn't have any. Still shopping for cheap external...

    Snap on old vintage ratchet

I had one in that style in 3/8 drive. It had a broken lever. When I ran into my old dealer (my buddy closed his gas station), I handed it to him and asked him if he could fix it. I was only kidding. He said he rebuilt one last week. Had to be in the late 90's. I gave it to him as a wall hanger.

My Late Father's Shop Organization Strategy

I put my tools away after each use. I was taught 50 years ago by my great Uncle Enzo how tools should be handled. The first time he saw me put an oily wrench in his box, he said he wished he could teach me the way he was taught. I asked for details. He said whatever wasn't put away clean in the...

Duct tape cut thin enough to go over only two sides of the extension square drive. Been my go to for 35 years.

Has anyone ever had their tools stolen?

I had my Snap-On/Craftsman tools stolen out of my garage in 1978. All sockets and wrenches were Snap-On. Screwdrivers and pliers were Craftsman. Insurance paid some, I think $1400 on a $2200 claim. Original claim was for $1600, but insurance wanted receipts. I dug them up (yeah, my great uncle...
