    Zoro Deals Thread

The small catalogs are so odd. Like they used their own (kind of terrible) search function for some unknown terms and then took a screenshot of whatever popped up. I keep meaning to change the preference for my account so that they don't send any more mail. I'll probably do that now.

Share unique tools others may not know about

Really strange. Almost like nail clippers. This video seems to imply it's for making rounded cuts that won't have sharp edges: Interesting approach. This is the best thread on this site.

Special tools or anything especially helpful for a starting out Toyota Tech.

It might be better to not go all in upfront in case the job isn't a good fit. If he doesn't have the basics, sure, but you could instead check in with him at intervals to see if he needs anything.

    JTC Tools for Tesla

Did you name the thread after their website? https://jtctools4tesla.com/ I'd never heard of them. It looks like those foam sets are probably locked behind an employee-only page. My only observation is that the cutout for the steel brush isn't well thought out. :p After the first use, the...

What's the difference between these two Craftsman wrenches that one is listed for nearly ten times as much as the other?

Whoops, different handle and some lazy googling! My point stands, but is completely unrelated to this thread. Carry on.

What's the difference between these two Craftsman wrenches that one is listed for nearly ten times as much as the other?

The ebay price is silly, but an 88-tooth ratchet made in USA back in 2014. Not bad Craftsman... I'm seeing one report that they sold a set of all three drive sizes for $80? I couldn't afford tools back then so I didn't even know what I missed out on. Ten years later and we're paying four or five...

Expander spreader pliers with flat tips

These aren't quite what you're looking for, but they have the same action: Lisle 47900 KTC ABX-32 The tips on the ktc pair are replaceable and I think it would be really funny to put some Mr. Potato Head hands in there.

    Anyone else like Channellocks?

That is a goofy looking pair of channellocks. Hope they serve you well!

Who makes the longest 1/2” ratchet

I'd like to see TTC or PF break one of those for science.

Wright Tools Disappointment (Transforms to Respect)

I genuinely dislike chrome. I hate being blinded when the sun reflects off my tools.

I seem to be at a point where I don't need any new tools for the first time I can recall.

I think their shipping is $10. You could save yourself $50 worth of stuff you don't need.

Who makes the longest 1/2” ratchet

Wright 6425 for anyone wondering. Always wanted one of those, but 3/4" sockets are too thick to fit on most things around here.

Who makes the longest 1/2” ratchet

I wonder if a company could make what would essentially be a massive pin vise. Maybe 2.5' long and wide enough to grab a ratchet handle. Take the wobble out of the cheater pipe equation.

What pliers does everyone use for connecting side plate connecting links?

There is a dedicated tool for those clips. Search for an "e-clip tool". It's a flat piece of metal with little cutouts that match the clips. I do not have any recommendations for a good set.

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

Thanks for all the answers about the chain tools. It looks like the saddled part which helps align the chain is what makes the bike chain breakers unique. And having to match that part to the dimensions of the chain is what creates the incompatibilities. The Hozan solution is pretty cool...

I purchased one of their locking collar bit holders and found it to be a little loose, as well. Forty bucks in that case, so that was kind of disappointing. It only has 1 retaining ball inside the sleeve. I don't know if that's the most important factor, but some of the tighter adapters I've...

    Stupid is, as stupid does.

Come on over, haha. You can scan my car. Do scan tools like those let you view individual sensor output? It's not really clear from the instruction manual. I want to see the output from the knock sensor on my Mazda. Unfortunately, it's buried under the intake manifold, so I can't probe it. I...

Another One Gone - Wal Mart and Hart Split the Sheets

They had at least one good deal. They sold a 9 sensor stud finder, which I'm pretty sure was a rebadged Franklin, for even less than Harbor freight.

There's a musical instrument repair store which mills them the other way so that they can fit into restricted spots and straighten bent pieces of soft metal.
