So where's everyone buying their wire these days? NM-B/Romex specifically..

Facebook Marketplace. $90 for a 250ft roll of 12/2 sealed. Electrical contractor overstock, they had like 20 rolls of 14/2 and 12/2. I run 12/2 to all my outlets because I run 20amp receptacles everywhere (Interior and Exterior). Obviously not to lights and switches.

HVAC contractor pricing - no thanks

I posted something similar to this in another minisplit thread. Install markup is just insane... we're not talking equipment * 2... it's equipment * 4. For a day of labor on easy minisplit installs. This is massive profit, not covering insurance, training and other overhead like vehicles and...

Anyone went from Red to Yellow and regretted it?

For the cost of an M12, M18 or Dewalt battery I just buy the tool I need if Dewalt doesn't make it. So I use Dewalt by default for all the 20v/60v series. I needed a rotary/dremel tool and Dewalt didn't make one so I bought an M12 one with a single battery bundle. I needed a romex stapler and...

    Heat Pump Recommendations

Recently went through this and I settled on Senville 18K and 33K BTU Aura series single head units (Arctic, -22F). I live in Maryland so we see pretty low temps in the winter (lower than NC) but it's unusual to get below 15F. Total equipment cost: $4,165.74 1x SENA/18HF 18K Unit 1x SENA/33HF...

Pole building - is this piece structural?

Ties bottom cord to outside post to transfer load from wind and they use it to keep the truss spacing consistent in the center as well I think. Would be nice to see the top tied in as well... When you get up there you can probably feel the trusses move back and forth if you push/shake them from...

    Pole Barn site Prep

1ft of stone wont have a large additional cost. Just add it and compact your gravel in lifts (Some say 6", some at 1ft) with a ride on vibratory roller like stated above (Don't do a walk behind plate compactor or remote control compactor). I wouldn't put the dirt back as it's no longer...

Looking for a garage builder in Maryland and potential thoughts on Morton buildings

Check out Sturdi-Wall / Perma Column brackets: https://permacolumn.com/products/sturdi-wall-brackets.html Having posts above ground is usually preferred, but more expensive (more concrete and buying $100+ brackets).

Looking for a garage builder in Maryland and potential thoughts on Morton buildings

Same experience with Morton. Their cost was over 2x what Pioneer was for the same dimension/feature building. Could do a stick frame build for that cost with concrete and drywalled interior.

Looking for a garage builder in Maryland and potential thoughts on Morton buildings

You're not getting any interior finishing or concrete for that cost on a 30x60x12 building. I leveled the site, stone and concrete separately. Here's the outside completed: Here's the inside prior to concrete (The finished product from Pioneer was about 5-6" below the wire mesh and was the...

Looking for a garage builder in Maryland and potential thoughts on Morton buildings

Had a pole building built by pioneer pole buildings in Maryland. Good experience. 30x60, 12ft to bottom of truss. 10x10 garage door, 1 person door, 6 windows, 18" overhands all around, Tyvek House Wrap. $44k. Built about a year and a half ago.

Pole building - Frame with gapped 2x4 but use 2x6 insulation?

I am going to stick frame between my poles so I can use regular bat insulation. Can I do 2x4 framing between the posts spaced out flush with the inside face of the post so there's a 6" cavity and use 2x6 bats (My poles are 4x6)? Would be cheaper than using 2x6s to frame everything out. Not...

Insulating a section of my pole building ok?

Gotcha, maybe you can help with the poly question… do I need poly sheeting between ceiling finish material and the bottom of the truss since I’ll be using blow in insulation and not Kraft faced bats?

Maybe you misunderstood but the building is Already wrapped in DuPont tyvek home wrap.

Insulating a section of my pole building ok?

I wanted it mainly to break the wind and it’s working pretty well with just an empty building. I think my new plan is to build 2x6x12 interior wall and insulation with r19 batts. Do 2x4x12 on the three exterior walls inside the posts and flush w/ the face of the posts and use the same r19...

Insulating a section of my pole building ok?

Sorry, I should have said face nail the girts to the face of the posts. I'm tending to agree with you though and may rethink and do 24" OC. Not sure why drywall would be a poor choice as the building will basically be finished the same way most houses are. The space will be conditioned 24/7...

Insulating a section of my pole building ok?

I really didn't want to have to frame in the outside walls, was hoping I could just face nail some girts to the inside of the posts. I do plan on filling the entire cavity.

Insulating a section of my pole building ok?

Yes I was going to do horizontal face girts to attach drywall to. I was going to set insulation (r-21) behind the girts horizontally and let them rest on each other (I could stable them to the inside face of the inside girts). Wasn't sure if this would provide enough support. I haven't called...
