    2022 Garage Sale Thread

I’m way behind on posting pick ups from yard sales from the last month. Took a pick of last week’s one sale hit before going camping. $15 for the works which included a pair of pressure solvent sprayers, 18” Williams 3/8” extension Herbrand DOE and combo MAC wood handle flat-blade

@d42jeep , nice haul👍 Would you be able to post a couple more pics of those DOE’s (especially the angle-head) and that Stillson style pipe wrench?

    2022 Garage Sale Thread

Had the day off yesterday and put in a couple hours driving around town following Estate Sale signs to dead ends and driving past a handful of nothingburger yard sales. My wife got word of a tool sale via FB marketplace, which I hit shortly after its opening time of 8am. Stepped over a largish...

    Before Imported Tools.....

Ha! Globemaster. I acquired a Globemaster DOE in a wrench lot I picked up recently. I’d never heard of it, but it didn’t make it into my lineup of cool DOE’s (Fairmount, Billings, Armstrong) pulled out of the same lot. Probably because it says “Japan” on the back. Very good thread topic...

Gotta love it when there’s both a “must be gone by” requirement and a “no lowballers” demand. In other words, “pay me top dollar as fast as you can”. The notion that you’re not going to get both is over some peoples heads.

    2022 Garage Sale Thread

I’m still using yard sale tools I picked up 20 some odd years ago. It’s been pretty fun getting back into hitting them again to see what pops up. I’ve got several sets I’m trying to complete, but end up mostly starting new sets to start working on now. The funnest though has been finding these...

    2022 Garage Sale Thread

Two yard sales today grossed 4 times the ten sales I hit last weekend. First sale got the two paint spray guns and mineral spirits. Second sale hit a wrench and socket lode. Also picked up some Snap-On and Craftsman screwdrivers, MAC vacuum gauge and Sears compression tester. The wrench lode...

@duddly , cool historical pic of the Navy shop. Funny how my eyes zoomed in on the Parker swivel jaw, swivel base vise.

Diesel would work about as good. A little less flammable than gasoline, but still flammable.

    Vintage CHROME? Columbian Vise

That’s regarding the comparison to the iffy Columbian, *I think*. The Wilton is a way better vise in several ways.

    Tale of two Craftsman Vises....

Been getting into the Craftsman vise thing a little myself, and have come across another model that I’ve found very few examples of - 5182. It looks to be a little brother of the 519x series, with a smaller but similar shaped and machined yoke. I’ve found one for sale and have been looking at...

    Vintage Columbian 606 M2-2?

Judging by the bolt hole in the tail section, I would say it was a solid mount. Can’t ever say I’ve seen a swivel base with three holes in the stationary. The 5 has not been stamped over, it’s clearly a 5. Really good looking vise, congrats!

Wilton vise crack would you sweat it

I would consider it to be good for parts. That vise has been through the wringer. But if you ever need swivel parts or a screw or nut for another one in better condition, there you go.

I stuck ours in a solvent tank and flushed out the interior and nut. Cleaned and lubed the screw and called it good. Glad to hear you’re keeping the original finish 👍
