Yeah, but do we tend to regret buying tools? ;D Actually, if I think about tool regrets, I do regret buying a discontinued pair of Maximum pliers. They are Cobra-like. But much heavier, and the adjuster ratchets closed, not locks in place. I had thought they’d be an ok substitute for not...

My brother had a Husq from CanTire. He looked at it, figures the box store models weren’t the same as the dealer models, and took it back. I think it would have been a good saw, but he figured he could do better. He bought a Stihl from a John Deere dealer. It was a promo and not much more...

Stanley high tension hacksaw - $7.11 https://www.princessauto.com/en/product/12-in-high-tension-tube-hacksaw/PA0009378175/9378175 Looks decent, especially for that price. And hacksaws are a tool where you always need at least 3, so you don't have to swap blades, right?

Looking forward to your review. I had handled them, and looked at the specs. Iirc, they are a tad heavier than Knipex, and not quite as tight, but seemed decent. 95% of the tool for 35% of the price ain’t bad - if that impression holds with use.

My brother really likes the folding wood rulers. He gave me one of his. But I haven’t remembered to ask why he likes them or for what job. So i haven’t tried mine, either.

If you have any decent amount of CT money saved up, this is a good weekend to spend it. 20% back on CT redemptions Friday to Sunday. My furnace uses expensive filters. I’m figuring a good chance to pick one up.

Pocket screw jig for $25 at Princess https://www.princessauto.com/en/pocket-hole-woodjoining-kit/product/PA0009421819 I think it is actually nicer than the Kreg jig that sells for over twice that price. The depth adjust is a push button, rather than the Kreg flex-the-plastic. If you aren’t in...

I don’t need more sockets, and I’m not exactly a Craftsman fanboy, but those looked quite well made. Not sure if they’re also Facom twins, but if I diddn’t have a decent set of metric deeps I’d definitely be picking them up. Now if only the palm control ratchets would come in…

The thing about mismatches - If you have one mismatched socket, it’s hard for it not to bother you. The trick is that you need to add enough singles from a variety of brands, and it becomes a feature not a problem. Kind of serious - I can be rather OCD. The first infill wrench I added to my...

I’d say that the between standard and flange bolts, and the selection of thread sizes carried by MCMaster Carr for metric is a pretty comprehensive list of what wrench sizes are needed. And anything not on that list is basically a specialty tool for some custom machined part. So for bolts, the...

Despite all the comments around here about 9mm or 11mm not existing, I’ve used every size from 8mm to 19mm. And no question things have changed over time, too - those 12mm became more useful with Japanese cars, and the 16mm flange head bolt rather than 17mm plain hex is more a thing today than...
