Had my kids for the weekend so we made a Halloween decoration for the shop on Saturday. I came up with the spider idea, my daughter said it needs a web and laid it out. My son said it needed big fangs so it could eat a bug. From preconceived notion to done was about 5 hours including lunch...

Thanks. 1)set 3-1/2" pipe on rotisserie stands. 2) lay out risers using a pipe wrap and a little math to get riser height. 3)tack treads in using a jig that locates and holds them. Overlap about an inch. When all are there use an able gauge to compare entry and exit points. Redo or proceed if...

    cast mailbox decor fix question

If you have the o/a set and can get a helper to preheat while you're ready and waiting to weld it should be no problem. In a pinch a small part like that can sometimes be welded successfully without the preheat. While I can only guess by your pics I'd be willing to bet it is cast iron, it's a...

    cast mailbox decor fix question

If it is cast iron, (most grades anyway) and is NOT a structural item, but purely ornamental, you may be able to mig (GMAW) weld it, too. While not one of the best methods it is doable with a little care. Preheating and stress relieving (gently peening immediately after welding) and slow...

Yes a bit dated, but that model, and its badge engineered cousin, the Airco Heliwelder, truly deserve top billing in the welder hall of fame. Great machines.

Yup, I use the econo-jig system™. I tack up the 1st piece of each part's run then tack down some scrap pieces to jig up the 4' x 10' x 3/8" layout table. At the end of each run just break them off and grind the table smooth again. They're welded only on one side to make this easy with a big...

Installing Surface Mount Post Anchors Into Driveway

That bracket for sure wont hold up to almost any gate. To set a post rent a stand up style core drill and get a bit with enough clearance (~2" on each side should be plenty) around the post to leave room to fill and tamp the post in place in concrete, (Quicrete RED bag works good for posts)...

Started this the other day, life size 14 point whitetail. The rack is supposed to copy the deer mount in the pics on the table. Even welded the skull up with o/a for s***'s and giggles. Still have to make the neck vertebrae and a wall mount plaque of some kind. I'm also going to go over the...

Nice job on the tub! Shoot, if you had a bead roller that'd look better than factory. I've got a '76 '5 scattered about my basement and yard, too. As soon as I get some gates and fence up at my shop it'll get packed over there and start getting thrown back together. I still cant make up my...
