Use a weatherproof horizontal outlet cover in a vertical placement?

I ended up using a box similar to what was previously mentioned which sticks out from the wall. My wife doesnt like it but I will hide it under her potting table.

Or add a white screw/handle to it. Not a bad idea at all, thanks.

Use a weatherproof horizontal outlet cover in a vertical placement?

I wonder if the horizontal style would be ok because nothing can run down onto the cover from above due to its being inset. I probably shouldnt chance it though.

Yes it is and I agree with you. Unfortunately I didnt install the siding and didnt realize how big of a pita this was going to be.

Use a weatherproof horizontal outlet cover in a vertical placement?

I wouldnt be able to get my fingers under the bottom edge since it is inset in the wall. The box I have to install it into is 3"x5" and is inset about 1/2". The only one I found is this one but I havent found it instore or online.

Use a weatherproof horizontal outlet cover in a vertical placement?

Thats what I figured. I have vertically mounted inset boxes that arent playing well with vertical covers (there is barely enough room to get fingers in to access the outlets on the vertical covers I have found.

Insulating Attic Ladders? Anyone something they like?

Home Depot has what looks like an insulated bag especially made for attic stairs. Its what I am using. I basically stuffed the ends that go around the ladder between the attic insulation and the stair frame.

Ok, thanks. I think I am 2 years into the addition and just have the kitchen to finish. At this point it is cabinets, countertop, finish the plumbing and get propane run for the cooktop and Im done. Then I get to rip the old kitchen out, redo the hardwoods in the old partof the house, 7 new...

Cant fit new joists for sistering

Well I am essentially finished. The two with minor cracking both have 2x8's covering at least 3 feet on either side of the ends of the cracks held in place with construction adhesive and lots of 3.5" nails. The worst of the three that had cracks running all the way through it has a 12 foot 2x8...

Cant fit new joists for sistering

Its clear amber in color. I originally assumed it was sap with a few larger bubbles of it on the outside of the wood. I might be able to get a photo but its pretty dim down there.

Cant fit new joists for sistering

Well I found a 4th joist that Im going to sister but that one just has some surface cracks in it. The first two have 2-3 foot cracks length wise along the bottom but havent sagged. The 3rd one has cracks straight through it but it looks like someone injected something into the crack to stop...

Cant fit new joists for sistering

I am going to either: a) Glue and nail 3/4" plywood to either side b) Glue/nail 2x8 on one side. At this point I think I am going to do the 3/4 on 2 of the joists and the 2x8 on the 3rd one that is the worst of them. The first two are just superficial cracks but I want to deal with it before...

Cant fit new joists for sistering

The joists are 15 years old and there really isnt much to the cracking. It looks like a small crack started on a bottom edge that started running the length of the joist. Im not looking to increase the load capacity of the floor. One thing that was mentioned was to use 3/4" plywood on both...
