Has anyone seen a parts washer like this?

Sorry here is a pic of the copper coil. It’s rotted through in the middle. Fitting underneath show plumbing in and out for the copper line.

Has anyone seen a parts washer like this?

Picked up this old parts washer. I can’t figure out if it was built for a specific purpose or if it was common and multi use parts washer. Has a copper coil in the bottom and the tray comes up while the lid raises at the same time when you press down on one foot pedal. Step on the other pedal...

Vintage Starrett Combi Square for 50 cents

Good to know, there is remnants of a black finish on the anvil in the parts that wouldn’t be touched as much. But I see what you mean about the dimples. When I look up old ones online, most I see are dimpled a few are smooth. But you definitely know more about theses than I do, so thank you.

    Grinder from the War Department

Thank you very much for that information. It almost means more that it’s from such a small manufacturer that took part in a bigger effort. I always remembered a friend of mines small town lil machine shop was asked back in the day to make a small part for the space shuttle program. I always...

Vintage Starrett Combi Square for 50 cents

Thank you guys, I’ve always used a speed square so I’m learning a lot about just how useful the combi square is. If anyone more familiar with these Starrett’s has any idea of when it’s from I’d love to learn.

Vintage Starrett Combi Square for 50 cents

Found this vintage Starrett Combination Square at a Restore outlet for 50 cents. Never owned one before but it’s nice and tight and it’s quality seems amazing. Any rust on it very minimal on the surface. Scribe is even still with it.

    Grinder from the War Department

Yes, the paint doesn’t look original, so I don’t mind restoring its appearance. I need to preserve it and restore its function. Any tool that serves our country deserves nothing less.

    Grinder from the War Department

Thank you RTM, that’s mire than I was able to find. I looked last night for a long time and didn’t even find that. I did learn a lot about the San Francisco Ordnance District but nothing on the tool’s manufacturer.

    Grinder from the War Department

Thanks guys, I’m definitely going to keep it. I completely agree with what RoninB4 said about paying respect. When I first saw the War Department tag I paused for a moment of silence. That time in our history means a lot to me. I would like to restore this in both appearance and function. I’ve...

    Grinder from the War Department

I’ve always liked to think of my 1930’s/1940’s tools being used in the war effort. This might be the closest I found. Saved this massive bench grinder out of a scrap pile. The wheels are 12” diameter and 2” wide. 2 Tags on the front, one identifies it as a Hartman Induction Motor from Hartman...

    Garage we built from scratch

Here is a short video of us building the garage on our land. It’s a barn now for us...but hopefully some here get ideas to build garages as well.

We finished it in just under a year.

Thank you very much. It’s filling up fast! I’ll make a video on the vehicle garage, but I don’t think it’ll be as good.

We finished it in just under a year.

We’ve never built one before. More barn than garage. It houses the tractor and shop room so it counts as a garage right?

Just got this old Delta bandsaw from a friend...

My seven year old and I started on it today. Does anyone reproduce any of the old stickers? Pulley rubbed against the upper cover... Ill be able to weld it back up from the inside. When shifting these gears, is the shift lever just supposed to rotate to change gears? (Doing...

Just got this old Delta bandsaw from a friend...

Opened the belt cover, everything spins freely and no nasty bearing noises. The shift lever moves until the gears disengage and the pulley free-spins. I will check it out more before opening the gear box. What is this plate supposed to be? What attaches to this bolt? On the opposite...

Just got this old Delta bandsaw from a friend...

Thank you. I'll be sure to check on Tuesday when I get back to it. I wonder why they made that option for only one year.

Just got this old Delta bandsaw from a friend...

Thank you, I will check when I get back to it on Tuesday. I did not open the belt cover. Thank you very much! I will look at your build. I am not getting rid of it, but just so I know, what makes it the most desirable?

Just got this old Delta bandsaw from a friend...

I didn't take any pictures of the inside, but the wheels are there, rubber is on the wheels, and they spin freely with no bearing noise.
