In the past when I was using a lift I always used a standing oil drain. like below. A great solution but most people do not have lifts.

when I work on cars I want my torx to be great quality. Nothing worse than rounding a gd torx. I got some older good quality Craftsman/ Husky pre HD / snap on sockets that work great.
