Taskforce Air hose reel $23.99 Lowes

I picked up the only one in the Goose Creek, SC store for $23.99 - they matched the 1060 printout. I checked the Summerville store and they had one left in stock.

garage of a broke college student..

Glad to see another Tiger on here. Yeah - the only wrenching this poor college student did at Clemson was on bikes in the apartment kitchen (grease wipes off of linoleum a little better than carpet)!! College kids' toys have gotten a little nicer these days!!!

    outlet locations?

My garage/shop is nearly the same size and I'm planning one 200V outlet on each wall. I'm also going to install conduit to a future outdoor closet (compressor & dust collector) before I insulate/drywall. What wire size is needed for 50A circuits? I want to run wire to accommodate 50A but have...

    room over garage

Talk to the truss designer. He can spec "light storage", "heavy storage", "occupancy", etc. trusses based on the intended use.

    ScottC's Garage Build

Had another milestone on Friday - passed my final inspection. He was probably here less than 5 minutes. It was another "if you're happy, I'm happy" inspection... Fine with me!!!

12 foot ceilings and a bathroom???

Like others, my garage has 10' ceilings and I built 8' bathroom walls.

    ScottC's Garage Build

I had a pretty productive weekend. Aside from getting the bathroom drywall hung, some friends of ours that are moving gave us their full size "garage" fridge. Guess I'll be running another water line for the icemaker... Also, I found a HF bandsaw on Craigslist for $85. The...

    The Non-traditional carriage house

Great job on the finish details. Like we've talked, I'll end up with similar front elevation, with the metal seam roof over the doors. I've had alot of "it's tall" comments, but I built within the zoning requirements & to my liking. It's my garage, right?!?!

    Post your lighting!!

For those of you who have flushmounted fluo strips, what type of junction box have you used? Rectangular? Round? Is conduit required if I mount the fluo strips on spacer blocks to avoid the overheating issue I've read about?

    ScottC's Garage Build

Here are the promised pics. I started my trenching with a rented trencher. Worked well except only one drive wheel worked and I had to wrestle that thing to keep a straight line. Ended up with two trenches - one for electrical feed and the other for wastewater and potable water lines. For...

    ScottC's Garage Build

No updates in a while, but yesterday I passed my electrical and plumbing rough-in inspections. I've already hooked up the electrical and am busy filling the two trenches I have across the yard. Just have to sheetrock the bathroom and set the fixtures and I'll be ready for Final Inspection...

    Shower install advice

Just make sure that you have a void space around the shower drain stubout. I forgot this and didn't have room to fit the shower drain threaded connection. I ended up building a 2" wooden platform that the shower sits on.

    ScottC's Garage Build

I don't have any project updates, but had a question about the front metal overhang. I'm posting some pics of another local "carriage house" and metal roofs that I drew design details from.

Questions about installing HardieSiding Lap Siding

I just finished installing roughly the same amount of Hardi siding and panels by myself. I used 6d galvanized ringshank nails in a framing gun. The siding is pretty tough material and the nails don't cause a problem as long as you nail perpendicular to the "board". The nailgun was critical...

New Garage Project begins, Please comment with thoughts and Ideas

Yes - some of the fiber will be showing even after it is finished and the floor will look a little "fuzzy". That's why it is recommended to torch the floor before paint or epoxy.

    ScottC's Garage Build

The roof is a 7:12 and I ended up with a 11.5'x30' space. There is roughly 6'2" of clearance in the center of the attic. A truss designer only needs a few variables to give you this information in a matter of minutes. I knew my attic dimensions while we were still on the phone together and...
