    Outlining/Painting Tool Boards

Using a graphic design program, create silhouette graphics of the different tools. Take these graphics to a sign shop, were you can have vinyl images of the tools made. Once your tool board is white (or the light color of your choice) , apply the vinyl images to the board. Then, apply your...

    Fav drink in the shop??

With garage temps of 100+ any time after 10am, I start off with fresh bell pepper, cilantro, tomato, orange, lemon juice, then move on to water. If I know that I am going to be working for a while, I will make some carrott, apple, banana, orange juice ahead of time so that I can drink fresh cold...

old Red Devil paint shaker, free in the DFW

I had considered posting this in the classified, but since I am looking to give this away free, I was not sure that would be the right place to post. If I am posting in the wrong spot, I am sure someone will let me know.. Anyway, I bought this paint shaker a while back, thinking that I could...

If people would quit selling $30 tool boxes, I would quit buying them

I agree that good deals are few and far between. However, i do happen to work more than 40 hours each week. The vintage tool purchases i have made in the past few years are great for my hobby and some even help with my part time job; but these kinds of items arent anything that i was jonsing for...

If people would quit selling $30 tool boxes, I would quit buying them

Thanks for all the replies. Not wanting to sell it, or restore it; I gave it a quick wipe down with WD-40, and have already started to fill it up.

If people would quit selling $30 tool boxes, I would quit buying them

This 1961 KR-58A came home with me today, along with a few random old tools (that I haven't had time to go through, as I just dumped them in to a tote so that I could load the boxes by myself). These old boxes are great for small tool & part storage.

Gloves in a can, what is this?

I have searched google and eBay, and have not been able to find anything like this. Does anyone have any idea what the original purpose of "gloves in a can" would have been? The gloves appear to be made of a thick, possibly heat resistant material..

Is this a part to some kind of reloading tool?

Yes, I did get a key cutting machine out of the deal. With as many old things with locks that tend to come my way, and my buckets of old keys, I was thinking that I could put it to work. I was already able to modify a 50's Chevy ignition key to fit the lock cylinder on a KR550B box, although I...

Is this a part to some kind of reloading tool?

I really try to do some research before posting the "what is this" but this one has my puzzled. It came from the garage of an old timer who did their own reloading, and key making. The only marking is "GERMANY" on the square steel rod that screws into the base. From it's weight (heavier than...

    re-wiring 1960's 5 drawer cash register

Got it all hooked up, thanks for the advise on the switches. With the 2 empty holes in the control panel, I want to hook up 2 lamps. The one that will show that it is armed is a no brainer, I will wire it to the on/ off switch. What is the easiest way to wire in a lamp that lights up when any of...

    re-wiring 1960's 5 drawer cash register

Yep, that diagram is exactly how I have this thing wired. I feel stupid for not knowing what NC stood for.. damn shipping cost as much as the switches.. Thanks for all the quick replies! http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=060-634&FTR=%09%20060-634

    re-wiring 1960's 5 drawer cash register

I am in the process of re-purposing an old 5 drawer cash register, and I have run into a little difficulty. Each drawer has a 110 ac solenoid that releases the catch, thus letting the spring loaded drawer open. My intention is to have 5 momentary push button switches that can activate each...

    restoring old tools.... question

Unless the tool is really rusted and / or you plan on keeping the tool for actual use, avoid the wire wheel. A good wipe down with WD-40, or even a blast from the pressure washer is about all I use to clean up old tools.
