Cool. Are these vinyl on metal or are they painted? I checked the site but it didn't say.

    Code Enforcement Question

It's all about money. With times the way they are these guys need to drum up cash anyway they can. Here's my wonderful code experience: I rented a small 1,000 square foot warehouse. Contract required an occupational license which probably triggered a fire inspection. Fire inspector shows up...

Are very many of the shops here actually worked in?

Mine gets used to death every day. I try to clean it but I make so much dust it's tough to stay on top. I find it's just best to open the overhead and blow all the dust out whenever possible. I'm trying to keep EVERYTHING enclosed in cabinets whee possible to keep things dust/overspray free...

    Fabrication Garage Flooring

They sell a clear gloss sealer that you can use as a topcoat but it is also xylene based so it wouldn't be impervious the brake fluid, gas. I would recommend epoxy if you want a glossy, finished surface. Although I would warn you that I've seen plenty of oil stains on epoxy floors. Nothing is...

    44 Bikes Frame Shop

Simply awesome. You have an excellent sense of design that makes even the most mundane topics seem artful. I really love all the graphic touches and I'm raging jealous over the Bridgeport but more so the beautiful structure within which it resides. At least some day I might find a decent...

    Fabrication Garage Flooring

No problem. Couldn't be easier actually. I'm renting 1,000 square feet so the idea of spending the cash on the floor didn't appeal to me. I spend alot of time at racetracks and I've noticed the paddocks and pits are always painted/sealed with simple color sealers/paint. I personally like the...

    Fabrication Garage Flooring

I went the poor man's route and used the solvent based H&C stain you can find at Home Depot or Sherwin Williams. I beat the hell out of my floor and I didn't want to drop a grand + on it when I could put that towards a Bridgeport. So far the stain holds up just fine. It cleans up easy and can...

Picked up a Load at Harbor Freight today

I'm torn about not having the ability to move it around so I haven't gone the stationary route. That height would work for me because I really like my bench @35". I made my steel table 39" and as funny as it sounds I'd like it just a little shorter.

Picked up a Load at Harbor Freight today

Very cool! I thought about doing the same thing but they are just too high for me at 40" to use as a workbench surface.

    T8 High Bay Fluorescents

I figured they would officially say this. The question is "off the record" what can you do? I'll keep everyone updated if I have any problems. When I get my tools moved in I'll take my IR gauge and get a reading. I have them flush mounted to concrete 16' off the floor and they don't feel...

    T8 High Bay Fluorescents

I just installed six of these on 16' ceilings and I flush mounted them. It just involves removing the reflectors. I don't see why it would be a problem. I think they are just trying to cover their rear end because they don't want anyone opening the unit. I had a bad one out of the box and...

    T8 Troubleshoot...

Finally sucked it up and climbed back up there to swap the light out with a new one. Worked just fine. Returned the bad one to HD. I have six in a 20' x 50' bay and the light is great. Overall I'm very pleased. Hopefully they hold out for a long time and I won't have to climb back up there...

Tack welding tig without a helmet

Flash burn is nothing to mess around with. Do yourself a favor and get an auto darkening helmet. Works great and you won't put your vision at risk. You should also get in the habit of wearing a jacket or some type of cover. The UV burn you can get on your arms, etc. from welding is nasty...

Yeah, looks like I'm going to have to **** it up and switch it out with a new one.

    T8 Troubleshoot...

I just installed six Lithonia High Bay T8 4' fixtures from Home Depot. Wouldn't you know one of the fixtures has two bulbs that barely light up. The other 5 fixtures are working beautifully and give off a lot of light. I checked the bulbs and they are good. All my connections seem in order...

    H&C Concrete Sealer

Unfortunately all too true. I'm not anti-epoxy, I love the stuff. I just don't think it's the end all be all that it gets promoted to be. I know it's blasphemy here to mention anything else but sometimes it's not the best solution for everyone. Just an FYI, your site has been down all day.

    H&C Concrete Sealer

All great points Edger. Time will tell how it holds up but for the money I'm not worried. If I owned the space I would have gone with a better product from Legacy but for the time being this will be more than adequate for my needs. Right now I need to focus on the AC as a priority.

    H&C Concrete Sealer

Just thought I'd post about my experience in case there are any of you thinking about going this route. I'm renting a space and will be doing a lot of welding/fab work, etc. so I didn't want to spend a fortune. I love epoxy floors and would gladly invest in the finish if I had more of a...

Epoxy concrete sealer and welding sparks.

I'm confused. Are you just doing the stain or is there a sealer you are using on top? I've searched and read this forum high and low and have yet to find a definitive flooring option for a real fab shop that welds. Epoxies are beautiful no doubt but they aren't made for welding (unless I've...

    Ghetto AC for Garage....

This is the route I'm going. The question now simply is what size unit/handler is right for the space and how much. I should have the first price est. tomorrow.
