More new USA Locking Pliers from Snap On

Honestly, it doesn’t matter to me whether they bought Malco’s tooling or not. Whatever tooling they are using to produce them, these are clearly Eagle Grip pliers made by SnapOn. The design is identical, they certainly appear to have identical materials, so as long as they perform the same, as I...

More new USA Locking Pliers from Snap On

Thanks for the heads up! Just texted my dealer that I need a pair of each.

Anyone try this as a degreaser?

Honestly, the best degreaser that I’ve ever used is the POR-15 Marine Clean. I think they just call it Cleaner Degreaser now, but it’s supposedly the same stuff. It works awesome, effortlessly honestly, for me whenever I’m cleaning up my tools after an oily or greasy job.

    Gearwrench kit or Tekton

While GearWrench may have some flashier ratchets, I would say that all the rest of Tekton branded tools are far superior to GearWrench. Their quality has gone noticeably downhill as the bulk of their production has shifted from Taiwan to China.

Got any more of those screwdrivers? Those Witte made screwdrivers are my absolute favorite.

Lisle 39480 vs Lisle 39850 disconnect set

The aluminum set has been ordered and should be here on Friday. Thanks to all for the input!

Lisle 39480 vs Lisle 39850 disconnect set

I’m definitely leaning toward the aluminum set, I just wasn’t sure if I’d miss not having the items in the larger plastic “master set,” but it sounds like that’s not likely. From what I‘m gathering here, it looks like the newer aluminum set is plenty complete, especially for an advanced DIY guy...

Lisle 39480 vs Lisle 39850 disconnect set

Well, I’ve got to replace the darn transmission cooler lines on my 3rd gen Cummins. I’ve been told that the quick disconnect fittings on Chryslers are very delicate and they really require a proper tool and not an improvised tool. So I will be getting a quick disconnect set to handle this job...

SK Sockets & Accessoories Made In USA?

Honestly, it’s just not worth taking the chance. I was never a huge SK fan to begin with, but liked them well enough as a US manufacturer. With this whole reorganization, there are just too many unanswered questions. I’m unwilling to buy a US made tool, with corresponding higher price, only to...

Hey Astro Tools - I must have a pneumatic slide hammer!

Seriously, what an awesome idea! I just saw Clay’s video tour of your booth at SEMA, and now I must have the pneumatic slide hammer. When do you think it might be available? Also how about the new air hammer tools with the proprietary steel? Are they available yet? I’m thinking about picking up...

I need to upgrade my punches and chisels.

I really want to try the Icon punch and chisel set, but my local Harbor Freight didn't have them or the super long Icon prybar. It seems like they are a cut above the standard Mayhews if they’re made of S2 tool steel. Coupled with an easy warranty replacement, it seems like it could be a winner.

New Harbor Freight Tools SEMA 2023

I’m in no way a Harbor Freight fanboy. However, I’m very glad to see more and more American made products in the store, and not just EvapoRust and WD40 lol. I remember filling out a survey a couple years ago and I explained that I would not buy made in China tools, would consider made in Taiwan...

Flush cutters and plastic repair “stitches”

The one you posted is almost certainly the stapler I’ll buy. It looks like buying replacement staples for it won’t be a problem either, which was a concern for deciding which model to purchase.

Are the Harbor Freight under hoist Jack stands really ok?

I’m actually thinking of doing just that - buy grade 8 fasteners of known decent quality to replace the fasteners included with the product provided by Harbor Freight. My ultimate issue is that whomever is making whatever stands for every brand that sells them, they all look identical. It’s very...

Tool Brands you cannot stand . . .

I think I’ve got to add GearWrench too. I think they’re way overrated, their quality seems to have definitely decreased from when I first used any of their tools, and they just give me the feeling of “all sizzle and no steak.”

    US General Series 3

Not sure if you’re joking or not, it US General is not a company. US General is merely a brand name, a brand name owned by Harbor Freight, who is most certainly not bankrupt.

Tool Brands you cannot stand . . .

Currently, I’d say Craftsman. I’m leaning towards SK as well, but that’s still up for debate. Frankly, if a company was once an American tool manufacturer, or at least primarily so, but has now off shored their manufacturing to China, India, or generally Taiwan, then I have no interest in that...

Malco Eagle Grip vs Gedore Locking Pliers

The Malco Eagle grips are the best locking pliers ever made, bar none. I’m trying to add some more from HJE every month for as long as they have them. I don’t even use locking pliers often, but these are so good that I want to make sure I have them in perpetuity if at all possible. Plus they’re...
