How to finish a stainless steel table with a brushed metal look?

I just did it and it looks great (bp460's recommendation) with the satin finish. It smudges very easily and could anyone recommend a particular brand for a clear coat? I have ACE Hardware, Lowes and HomeDepot nearby but could also order something online. Please advise :)

How to finish a stainless steel table with a brushed metal look?

Just tried it today :( EPIC FAIL. No matter how long and straight I keep the strokes, it always looks like an amateur job. I am going to buy a belt sander and see how things go. I will also post some pics :) Thanks guys!

How to finish a stainless steel table with a brushed metal look?

Hi guys, I've got a stainless steel (mirror finish) table from Ikea and over time, it got scratched pretty heavily. So, in order hide the scratches, I thought about brushing it with a metal brush and/or sanding block. Could you please provide me tips as to how to go about doing this? I don't...

    $100 screwdriver deal!!!

Extremely overpriced. Buy a German (Wera, Wiha) screwdriver and you'll never look back on Snap-on screwdrivers.

Dear Starrett, shut up and take my money!

Thanks :) UPDATE: So, I called Starrett customer support. Had to call them a couple of times to get hold of the "Tech support"; went straight to a man's voicemail whose voice sounded like full of wisdom. Anyways, I left a message and he called me back in an hour. WOW! He was one of the most...

Who makes the best handtools in your opinion?

Wiha & Wera for Screwdrivers. Knipex, NWS, Klein for pliers. Starrett & Mitutoyo for precision tools/machinist tools. For electronic test gear - Tektronix, Agilent, Fluke and Gossen.

    I used a D7000 + 35mm F1.8. I believe the pictures were taken at F3.5 & 1/30-1/60 seconds @ 400 ISO. Lighting is a $10 IKEA Lamp  Fixed there for ya ;)

A good pair of sheet metal shears? (Aviation Snips)

Do you know of any other European companies that sell these shears? I've googled "Sheet metal shears made in germany" with no luck. haha... :bounce: Like you, I am obsessed with German engineering (I live in America, but deal with German companies on a daily basis at work). Whenever you hear a...

Dear Starrett, shut up and take my money!

Well, I bought this square off of eBay - Brand New @ half the price. It was listed as "these are second class products and may contain cosmetic blemishes" So, I am not too worried about the Scriber. I have a seperate one by Starrett with a carbide tip. Love it (although, I haven't used it much)...

    Precision screwdriver set...

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000T9SI60/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I have this set and it has the same material (rubbery non-slip - but not TOO sticky. Hard rubber, harder than tyres.) as PicoFinish. Get it.

    Precision screwdriver set...

Get Wiha or Wera. I have a bunch of them (PicoFinish): Don't bother with other companies. Forget about Snap-on. I have used Snap-on screwdrivers (the big ones) and their handles are not rubbery like Wiha/Wera. It is just a piece of molded plastic which is VERY uncomfortable when you try to...
