Wilton Bullet Vise date stamping. show yours with or without EXP on slide

These are from a current e-Bay listing. The markings are unfamiliar, at least to me. The seller says they cannot make the number out after "MAR". Has anyone else seen the date stamp marked in a similar manner? The "GUAR EXP" font seems right, just in the wrong place. Perhaps the retailer applied...

An observation not previously noted (I don't think). Picture 5 in Kevin's post shows a footnote at the bottom saying the 8" Wiltons were not Wilton products. Whose were they? Tom

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Came across this little 825 2.5" stamped 9 46 a month or so ago. Lightly used and smooth. Finished the restore last week...straight forward and fairly easy. Found a trace of the original paint in the static to base mounting holes...no surprise...light green. Disassembled, wire brushed, corrosion...

Balane...1st class restoration!! I think the mint green is just right. Did it come from a rattle can or a custom mix (care to share the formula)??

Well, to be honest...Fairhope is one of the nicest and quaint little towns in the LA area...I can see why you might want to be stationary there. Here in Gulf Shores, it pays to swivel a little every now and then.

autopts...thanks for the ideas about the "A" & the comment on the Wilton; coming from you it is considered a compliment in the highest regard. Your work is top shelf! The vise was semi naked when it arrived so the restoration went fairly quickly. At one point in its life it was painted a...

Here is a link from a 1917 article that says 500 degrees F probably won't reduce the strength of cast iron but repeated cycles may cause it to grow and get heavier (although the growth documented was from 27 cycles and heated to over 1400 degrees).

Balane, Not sure if 500 F & slow cooling will change the metal properties or not...someone with that expertise needed. I wouldn't do it if I wasn't sure. Jake, I'll take your word on the smoke issue. Was your use of the "lol hitting" smile suggesting that someone in your household would shorten...

Anyone tried baked flax seed oil on a vise? This may have been covered already but...basically one puts a very thin coat of flax seed oil on the external and non-machined parts, stick them in a 500 degree oven for ½ hour to an hour, let cool and repeat 4 or 5 times. Supposedly produces a...

Parker 974 Tuneup?? Looking for some opinions on what to do (if anything) about a small amount (1/32" +/- as measured at the back end) of slide wobble left to right as the spindle is turned. It sure looks like more than a 32nd but the ruler tells true. I thought the bushing I put in where the...
