Mr. Cool 36K Mini Split Rodent Wire Damage

I know that auto manufacturers have largely adopted wiring with soy based insulation rather than PVC. There are numerous claims that this new coating is more attractive to rodents for chewing. Not sure if this new insulation is becoming more widely used in the name of eco-friendliness...

Mr. cool DIY vs. Menards Denali Aire

I’m almost afraid to post this but I’ve completed my install and the Denali Aire has been up and running for almost two weeks now. It was all pretty straight forward with the exception of needing to run a 1/2” schedule 10 PVC line for the drain since I’m mounted 15 feet inside the building.

Mr. cool DIY vs. Menards Denali Aire

Alright then. I’ll take the challenge and report back. Wish me luck. I ordered the Denali Aire mini split yesterday from Menards in an attempt to beat the impending tariff pricing increases.

Mr. cool DIY vs. Menards Denali Aire

I’m looking at a 36k minisplit and had assumed that Mr. Cool was basically the only DIY setup in the game. However, it looks like Menards has a brand by the name of Denali Aire that is the spitting image of the Mr. Cool units for significantly less money. This will be in a 30x60 shop and fancy...

Question for those who nitrogen test mini splits

What does your pressure test gauge setup look like? I am curious as I don’t have nitrogen on hand but I do have copious amounts of argon for welding purposes. Seems like this would fit the bill great if I don’t end up spending tons on adapters or special regulators. Also, when you do the...

DOT approved 120 gallon / 420 pound propane tanks and filling

That seems like a distinction without a difference. Is the tank over 500 gallons and is it DOT rated? Check yes on both counts.

DOT approved 120 gallon / 420 pound propane tanks and filling

Not completely true as there’s no way that the trucks delivering propane aren’t DOT approved and they aren’t less than 500 gallons in capacity.

DOT approved 120 gallon / 420 pound propane tanks and filling

Since there has been so much talk about propane tanks and transporting them I thought I should ask a question I’ve had for a while. They make DOT approved 120 gallon / 420 pound propane tanks and it looks like from a regulation standpoint I can transport one of these full since it’s DOT approve...

How full do they fill 100lb tanks

Anyone ever taken a 420lb tank to get filled? I’d like to pull one on a trailer and get it filled at Tractor Supply but I’m afraid they’ll tell me they can’t fill it.

Metal connector nailer recommendation for 1 1/2” joist hanger nails

Here are the hangers I’m putting up. It’s either 1 1/2” or 3 1/2” nails. No 2 1/2” locations. Not sure I’ve seen one calling for 2 1/2” length. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-Strong-Tie-LU-Galvanized-Face-Mount-Joist-Hanger-for-2x10-Nominal-Lumber-LU210/203302251

Metal connector nailer recommendation for 1 1/2” joist hanger nails

I was thinking about getting the 2 1/2” model but it’s almost twice the price of a 1 1/2” only model. The Senco 1 1/2” is $199 free shipping here: https://www.coastaltool.com/products/senco-jn91h1-1-1-2-metal-connector-nailer

Metal connector nailer recommendation for 1 1/2” joist hanger nails

Air is preferred for the nailer unless a battery tool is just better for this. I’m all Milwaukee for cordless tools right now.

Metal connector nailer recommendation for 1 1/2” joist hanger nails

I’m in the market for a joist hanger nail gun to install a bunch of joist hangers using 0.148” x 1 1/2” nails. There are lots of good reviews for the Metabo, Senco, and Bostitch guns. I was leaning Senco only because I have their framing nailers but I could be swayed based on your user...

Does the power pole in front of my house have three phase?

The power company engineer who visited the site said that the primary conductors had to be in separate 2.5” PVC conduits buried 4 feet deep. They are the municipal electric provider and if you want their power you have to play ball. Edit: The primary side wiring I’m talking about being...

4/0-4/0-4/0-2/0 SER cable in the wall?

You’re right. It supports B hubs up to 2 1/2”. If the cable will make that bend I think I’m good. It would enter the gable end and I would have enough room to stand up there and feed it through the LB.

4/0-4/0-4/0-2/0 SER cable in the wall?

Hmm… do you think I could floss it through a 3” LB? If so I can come straight up the outside of the building and in above the ceiling. That would let me floss it across the attic and down the wall to the panel pretty easily.

4/0-4/0-4/0-2/0 SER cable in the wall?

I need to power a 200 amp panel from a 200 amp external disconnect mounted on the outside of my shop wall. This panel is 60 feet away on another wall of the shop. It would be way easier to run SER up the wall of the disconnect across the ceiling and down to the 200 amp panel. The only thing that...

50 amp receptacle wired with aluminum SER?

There is a way. The Leviton receptacle is rated for aluminum and copper wire and says it fits #10-#4 wire gauge. https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/96/966c2920-d3d5-4bd2-8213-cb7d4ea098ae.pdf
