Just got off the truck:

Snap-On Pliers, Linesman's, 7-3/8. I got them for about $43.00 -- they were "shop worn". A few nicks on handle. Otherwise perfect.

Not sure if these are re-branded or not:

Blue Point Cleaner, Terminal with Side Terminal Brush, Part No. BTC7B. $17.45

Desc. says red, but it was blue like the photo.

Not sure that I like it better than the old-school brush/terminal cleaner I've got at home or not. But it stripped the hell out of the corrosion in one turn.

Also pulled a Mickey-O, as this tool is made in China.

[Rebranded CEJN (Made in Sweden)].

At $50.95, both the SO driver and I were stunned by Snappy's price. My fault for not checking the price before ordering. Seems a little high, but maybe it's not too unreasonable.

I have a feeling I could've gotten quite a better deal with the CEJN-OEM, though I think I got one more accessory part than are picture. I did need it for cleaning that week, so it worked out well. Normally, I've got several of the CEJN guns (208 series) from MSC during their sales for a good price. But not w/the 20" extension and the tips. I'm also a fan of the Prevost stuff (3 different styles) which I've gotten from ultimategarage.com.

Those socks are bad-***. I laughed when i saw them first time, SNAP ON SOCKS?! WTF? got a pair from our dealer for xmas. They are so damn comfortable even after 6 months of wearing them.

Wonder who makes em originally? Or do they have a bunch of old ladys at sewing machines along side the forges where they cast wrenches?

place called eco hosery or something... found them once online, they don't sell anything retail themselves, only make stuff to order. I only wear black SO socks, short and tall at work now, they're awesome. I have a thing with feet and my socks/footwear. only socks that hold up for longer than a few months in my experience.

-------mechanics time savers

I couldn't find in the catalog the 1/4" shallow and deep socket in black in the MTS brand, so I bought the Blue Point brand instead. Or I would've gone with MTS in that case.

Also: that blue pen light I featured in a post above really ***** ***. It's just cheaply made. Too much play in the internals. And it's a simple thing to make.

It's the only rebranded thing I've regretted buying.

Here is one for ya, These two snap ring pliers are identical. The patent number too. One is a Craftsman I bought new, The other blue point set bought for 2.00 at a yard sale. I like the Craftsman they do not show dirt, however the blue points are more finished and shine.

I've got Mac and Blue Point snap ring pliers that appear to be the same as some older Crafty pliers (c. 1992-93).

Prybars are so good, thought I'd get the scrapers as well:

Set, Non-Marring Scraper, 5 pcs. $39.05

My one criticism is the finish. The way these are made, they appear to be injection molded. (Corrections welcome). The actual tool shafts need to be cleaned up a bit. It's labor intensive to do this, and I don't know what kind of volume the OEM is doing, but I could think of a few tool designs that could shear off the excess from the mold pretty easily and quickly.

I used to use those same "cannon plug" pliers, more commonly called "sweet lips". I am trying to remember the name on them. Almost positive they were USA industrial, but pretty sure not proto or armstrong.

Perhaps they were ATI?

Now here is the REAL kicker....

ati_2008_header.jpg

Recently, we began to merge the ATI tools business with CDI Torque Products . Both brands will be under one roof by April 1st, 2009. The new business name is Snap-on Specialty Tools, located in City of Industry, California.

Thanks for the heads up. I got a pair for myself and for a friend. At those prices from Harry Epstein, that's a pretty good deal. They also had a nice Facom (Made in France) 1/2" drive impact socket set in a nice box.
