This story is rich with artifacts from history. The little stories along the way have made it even richer. It's just just about the items but how they connect to people through the years.JERAULD Y MANIFOLD
Well the story continues...
Thomas & his wife made it to San Diego. The guy that discovered the Jerauld Y manifold in a pile of old parts, finally met face to face with the guy that has been looking for it most of his life...
Jacob had a BBQ at his house Monday night. Thomas brought his buddy Lou Bingham ( a old Land Speed Racer) to the BBQ. We all had a great time bench racing , swapping lies & stories.
Lou Bingham had news about the Jerauld Belly Tank Car. Unfortunatlly it wasn't good news. the car was sold to Nolan White . The owner of a company here in San Diego called AUTOPOWER. They parted out the belly tank & used part of the Jerauld Belly tank to build another land speed car. The strange thing about that is my uncle Chuck Chenowth founded a company called San Diego Steel Products, that company became AUTOPOWER. So the belly tank car ended up with a company my family started....
Jacob & I are going to AUTOPOWER tomorrow morning to see what we can find out
Another strange thing happened today. Al Jeraulds son, Joel . Emailed me last night. He just join the HAMB site & saw what I had posted about the belly tank & sent me an email.
So we are going to meet with Joel Jerauld tomorrow after we visit with the folks at AUTOPOWER....
I will keep you all posted....
I would have posted photo of Jacob's BBQ but it just aint letting me load the photos ????

count me no longer as a lurker, 3 days 126 pages !
Im curious - as the family of mr. Johnson has come back to see what youve done,
do they have appreciation for the amount of effort & restoration...to the memory of
their family member ??
Wonderful Story, and one I am glad has no end in near sight! A note on square head bolts on the lift that you left as original, if in any of your many other upcoming restoration projects you need new ones, the electric utility industry (i.e. power lines) still use all square head bolts on cross arms at the top of poles. Generally in 1/2", 5/8", and some 3/4". They still look exactly the same as the ones on your beautiful lift. Keep up the great work!
Well damn! picked up CarCraft today because of the article about Tom's garage & I discovered I was mentioned on page 51
I'm hoping this doesn't end up with me finding my mailbox collapsed under the weight of tools to be oil quenched....luckily it is supported by a railroad tie..

In the Car Craft article they mentioned something about anvil restoration in the thread. I missed that, anyone happen to know where in the thread that might be?
Post #2163 have some information.... but exists lot more...can you use the "Search this Thread:" form in the end of your page....

i'm trying to find an appropriate table-top juke box that uses cds, but am not satisfied with what i've seen so far.
Chris
[/URL]don't be stuck on cd's. An old style one could fairly easily be converted to an input device for a computer to play mp3's and the like. It would probably require some custom programing, but it should be fairly simple.

i'm a little "old school" so mr johnson's shop as you may recall has a 400 disc cd changer
Thomas
i could adapt an ipod to the shop very readily but then what would i do with all those cd's??
Thomas
After reading the Car Craft article I was hooked, and needed to see it all. Found the site, read all the posts, and registered........yes Thomas & Chris, I'm ready for the test.
All I can add is that I'm truly impressed with your quality, dedication, and humanitarianism.
You are a special couple that deserve all the finer things in life.
Regards,
JK

Not to worry guys, I had mine. I can't upload them while I'm on the road so I'll get a couple posted if you want once we're back home....shortly.
I appreciate the effort you made Rick, coming out to the track to meet Chris and myself. You realize after oil treating the Ford adjustable wrench you have become part of the story and history of the shop. Also your many contributions to this thread have enriched it for all of us. Thank you sir.
Home soon.
Thomas

Excellent... It has been a long cold winter and the fun car can't come out to play until the temps get a bit higher...![]()
