Found this in our old shop, was my wife's grandfather's.

I know about weight, just wondering if it's unique at all, I have heard a lot about $1 per lb.

I believe that is what a blacksmith who intended on daily use would pay, I'm wondering if there is a higher price based on rarity and collector value.

I am not claiming this to be a rare anvil or that it is valuable in any way, more just looking to find a fare collector price. Thanks
Hello there stoneECHO and welcome to our gang. We love anvils here but XJSuperman was probably correct. Post a dedicated thread in the anvil section of GJ as per his link and it would generate the type of information you seek. I'm not an anvil expert but you have a handsome one that has clearly been used. Oh, the stories it could tell!

If we can be of any other help check back here. Someone is always willing to help out. Best of luck, cheers.

I'm sorry and apologize for not posting on May 24, 2025. Probably not much to report on or any events of importance and I figured Chris and Thomas were off on an adventure or vacation and we'd learn about it eventually. Not that it's any of our business what they were up to but I for one would like to wish them a week and a day late congratulations to Chris and Thomas on their 50th Anniversary.

Happy 50th Anniversary Chris and Thomas.
Sorry about the color, it should be gold but dark yellow/light orange was the best I could do.

Thank you all so very much for the nice wishes. Chris and I celebrated earlier for 2 weeks in Hawaii and we both agree it was our best visit ever. Then last week, on the actual day of our 50th wedding anniversary ...

..."Picnic with the Payne's". That's when our local car club comes to the shop and we spend a few hours together with good food, fun cars and bikes and warm fellowship. The weather was spectacularly perfect.

The one constant through the last 50 years of my life has been a certain young lady...

Thomas, you did not disappoint. We only flew first class a few times but one of them was on Swissair from Boston to Heathrow in 1998 to embark on a two week Scandinavian and Russia cruise. The flight attendant apologized for the seating because our 747 was the last one scheduled to be re-fitted with privacy walls and seats that could be turned into a bed. I believe Chris is enjoying that particular feature on the Hawaii flight in the photo. All those years in the pilot seat taught you well, especially how to impress your girlfriend wife.

Sharp eye Bob, yes that's my sweetheart enjoying 1st class on a UAL 787, non-stop ORD-HNL. After all those years flying other folks it's fun to lay back and relax during the flight.

We've all been told life is short and isn't that the truth. So hard to believe we've been Mr and Mrs for 50 years!

It's also hard to believe we've owned our property here for close to 20 years this fall.

And through it all, Chris has been extremely patient and supportive.

She is just a wonderful life partner.

Many of you here, have been along with us as we turned this property around and made it much more usable. I do thank you all as well, for all the support and good vibes you've posted here. That has made this so much fun.

Luckiest man in the world, Thomas

Happy Anniversary. You have not only a great life story, but a great property that you guys have created and enjoyed.

Those early pictures of your property really show the amount of work involved and I commend you.

The wife and I just celebrated our 36th anniversary but are fortunate to now be in our forever home and God willing, can enjoy it for many years to come.

Thomas, I let this pass because it was such an important day but letting a 1955 Mercury Monterey park in the lineup of Corvettes, Camaros and '55 Chevy Cameo pickup shows just how kind and accommodating you and especially Chris are. I mean, isn't Chris the Queen of the Lincoln Car Club?

The rest of the photos exposed just how open you are with a Datsun, a Jaguar, what looks like a Caterham 7, a handful of Chrysler and Ford products and the Nash Metropolitan as the cherry on top. I especially like the Mopar station wagon and the scarcity of giant SUVs. A truly eclectic group of cars and I bet the owners are still kids at heart. My 80 year old body is controlled by the still developing frontal lobe of a 17 year old. You should hear the howls of laughter when my 17 year old brain witnesses 80 year old me getting out of the C4 Corvette.

Hi there Bob, and thank you for the kind words. Our car club is titled Illini Collector Car Club. We embrace all makes and models of vehicles. I personally consider myself an automotive enthusiast. I like them all and so do our club members.

Yes, Chris is for sure a Lincoln Queen with her beautiful Mark 8.

I owned an all original 1966 Lincoln Continental 2 door coupe for 38 years.

Presently I own a '48 Willys Jeep pickup...

The motorcycles range from early '70's and '80's Honda CT 110's and BMW's to 2004 BMW R 1100 S motorcycles. I have a wide range in what I like. I'm open to most any vehicle. There are even some aircraft I have a certain appreciation for!! So thanks Bob for noticing. Cheers,

Thomas

Thomas,
I had no idea you had motorcycles too. Those are some nice bikes. I've recently acquired something I thought you might like.

A dear friend passed away and I arranged to purchase it. We met when we were both 14 and he got this when he was 21 but didn't restore it until he was almost 50.
Regards and a belated happy anniversary
