Made a door stop as I'm sick of the back door slamming shut when I've got it and the ranchslider in the lounge open.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Installed an automatic door closer on the man door to the garage.

I need to do this as well, sometimes the kids run in/out and forget to close it. Which is only really an issue in the winter, when I am heating the shop...

I also need to put one on the bathroom door in the shop, the bathroom stays a whole lot cleaner from sanding dust, etc when I remember to keep the door closed.

Today I finally got around to hanging the TV on the wall and building a shelf to hold the components, etc. It is a 2005-ish Pioneer Elite 50" Plasma 100-pound energy hog...(we upgraded our main TV in the house so this one got retired).

One good thing about this TV is that it has excellent sound, so listening to Pandora, etc on it is great. I use a Roku XD streaming box on it ($59).

Quickly removed the locking bars from my top tool chest in between other small jobs around the house. My box stays in my garage and only I have access to it. No need to have to open the top in order to pull open the drawers!

Your garage looks really neat. The shelf below the TV turned out perfect for the setting. Also, what do you think of the Roku box? You must have wireless in your garage for it to work, right?

No pics right now (shame, I know) but I organized my 1/4" sockets with two new Hansen trays, then repaired an old Rockwell handheld belt sander. The gear that drives the belt was slipping on its shaft. Got the thing apart (which was not straightforward) and fumbled with the gear for a while before realizing the nuts that hold it on are reverse thread. :lol_hitti

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

No pics either but over last week:
- I helped change rear disk brakes on a friend's 2005 Mustang. After trying to compress the calipers with a screwdriver I broke down and bought the little cube tool to compress them. That was a waste of money. Went to HF the next morning and bought the caliper brake service tool. Was done 30 minute later. I'm not too happy about the new design but it gave me a reason to buy more tools. ...and taught the friend's 13 YO daughter how to change a tire.

- Rearranged the toolbox. Made some pliers racks out of some halogen light guards (the lights had died) and moved them from a wide shallow drawer to a deep narrow drawer. That gave me room to separate the larger wrenches (larger than 1" (25mm)) into another drawer and make it easier to grab wrenches. Moved the hammers to another deep narrow drawer and stood them on the their faces to clear 1/2 of another drawer. Overall it looks a lot better.

- Worked on putting doors on the "closet" that the compressor is in. I installed an old CH&A fan and motor above the compressor to help keep the compressor cool and put a furnace filter door on it. That actually works pretty much like a dust collector. Now to build the lower door....

Pulled a door panel on the street rod (30 Chevy) and cut it down. Now the door fits properly, window rolls up and down correctly and the popper (electric opener) works right. Still have to do the other side.

Went to a local gun show, picked up a Mil-Spec Lantern. I brought it home and cleaned it up in the garage.

Finished tinting the windows on the front of the garage. Put a new fuel filter and pump in the daughter's Explorer.

She came out and helped a little bit. I showed her how to rotate tires, use the impact and torque wrench.

Not all was inside, but:
- Took down Christmas lights and stored in bins in shed.
- Installed 4 Kicker DS-60 speakers that I got for Christmas in the '02 Montero.
- Restored the faded headlight lenses on the Montero with 3M restoration kit.

Installed a Buddy Club race header and an Apexi WSII cat back in my '04 civic Si hatchback... Then replaced the air compressor in my '99 Navigator. Big thanks to the guys at Advanced Auto for staying late so I could pick up the compressor! It literally crapped out at 8:40pm tonight, I called Advanced at 8:59 and didn't arrive till 9:15pm.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I broke down this tool cart, hit it with some rattle can red then put it back together with some new shiny hardware. I put some new casters on the bottom while I was at it. There's a plate that fits the top and when that's dry I'm making a wood top for it. I use the cart for my miter saw, scroll saw, grinder, etc.

Not in my garage, but took my truck over to a coworkers to get the door hinge welded back on the body. It was separating a bit and causing a lot of wind noise at speed.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Picked up some surplus _ista workbench risers from work. I decided that they would make excellent shelving for my garage. (I pretty much built a shell, put the projects in and am organizing after the fact.)
I was able to put together 25 lineal feet about 8' high with 5 levels plus the floor. Each shelf has a hat shaped reinforcement underneath. They are bolted together. I also have 3 used Vidmar cabinets from a previous job.
Also worked on the bedsides for the F-1 project.

Next, ceiling and lighting.

Saturday I rode the Outlander hard (160km of groomed, snowy trails) and put her away wet. Today I prepared the Outlander for next weekends 'torch ride' (we decorate the trail and the quads with torches for a night ride), parked the trailer and dried everything out from yesterday.

Then, changed the headlight on the Ram. Will be able to see in the dark tomorrow morning on the way to work.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Having finally unpacked all my tools I made a wooden frame to go around the new catflap for the back door of the house to pack it out to the right depth and then cut a hole in the door and fitted the catflap. I also bolted down our new cast iron mailbox outside the front door. Other than that we went and ordered our new bathroom suite to replace the brown early 80's one with a bath that only holds me plus three inches of water, ordered our new kitchen (having a kitchen handmade from reclaimed 100 year old pine with granite worktops to replace the current falling apart early 80's job), went and looked at tiles for the bathroom and took the kids to "Blue Planet" a big aquarium with sharks swimmin around a massive tank with an acrylic tube you walk through as a birthday treat (they were five last wednesday) Busy weekend!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Since I epoxied the floor, I have to take precautionary measures before welding in the garage. So, this weekend I fabbed up a foldaway welding screen and then fabricated a steel security window blind for the garage window.

Did you weld up the welding screen outside?:lol_hitti

Seriously, great looking security screen. Nice way to have windows, but make them safe, and reduce peeping from the bad guys!

I need to do this in the worst way, hmm maybe a project before I push my compressor back into the corner. Thanks for the idea.
