Found an old 1/2 inch Gedore wrench that's stamped India. WTF?
The joint venture with an Indian company ended in 1986

Me too.The only Gedore wrenchs that i've ever saw were made in India. I agree with the crappy quality.
I find lots and lots of the Indian made Gedore at the flea market. They must have sold a bunch of them here in the South.
Charles
the german (and to an extent the rsa) are on par with hazet and stahlwille. Some of the best tools around.
All the india gedore stuff must be bought up and destroyed. Looks like they gave the company a bad rep in the us.

I don't remember getting these, but it was in the early 80s and either in Florida or New Mexico. Would have been before I needed anything metric which happened in the summer of 82 when I bought a 1979 Kawasaki KZ400.
Gedore, Made in India. Chrome isn't bad but the wrenches certainly weren't "finished" before the chrome dip...
Shoot that makes them over 30 years old and antiques! EBAY!!!!

Wow. Those open ends are really wide and useless.
On German mechanic forums they tend to believe it.Me too.
In the pre-internet, pre-Harbor Freight days, it looked like Gedore were the lowest quality tools available. A few years ago I picked up a big socket and it was made in Brazil. Quality was ok, roughly on par with taiwan.
This is the first place I found that thinks they are any good.
