I've recently encountered Indian made gedore wrenches for tge 1st time a month ago and only here in the states.
I have Gedore socket sets that were made in South Africa , wrenches that arcade in Germany and South Africa and the South African adequate wrenches are on par with the German made ones.
The indian made one's are rough in comparison even by Gedore standards which have never won beauty contests.
I believe some of the red range is also made in India now and looks a lot better bit I've never used or held one.
The Indian made Gedore wrenches, as rough as they look have decent box ends vs Pittsburgh , Husky etc and I'd rather use an Indian made gedore from this Era than a husky or a Pittsburgh which are too both made in India.
I've been using gedore all my life as has my dad . These 1980s indian are the worst looking Gedore tools I've ever seen but still seem to be Gedores and are a bargain for what they are selling on eBay for vs HD and HF cheaper house brands.
Pittsburgh is worse than many Chinese wrenches I've seen and tge set I got from HF had clearly bypassed tge QC que with crud in the box ends of a couple of wrehces and I get the idea that they are knuckle busters and as beautifully finished as the Husky wrehces are now , the older made in USA ones are far better and I think HD have destroyed Husky if I see what some older Husky tools look like vs tge newer ones.
It's too bad that these indian made Gedores found their way here in large numbers as I believe had most people we had access to the South African and German made Gedores , the sentiment toward them would be very different and it would be the go to socket and wrech brand for those who can't afford a snap-on set but want something of really good quality that can he passed down 3 generations after hard use. My oldest Gedore ratchet is older than me and my newest is 9 years old and the quality is the same with only the addition of more teeth and a different handle , take tge handle off, they look identical despite 20 or30 year age difference.
I haven't used Gedore red range nor really been interested in it and think there are tools that are better value for example Mastercraft or the very under rated ( here in the US ) Ampro or perhaps even king Tony (KT here )which are both being used by professional techs around the world.
Here is a 17mm Indian made Gedore I got off ebay for next to nothing. Sanded it with some 240 grit and will move up in grit once I've got all the pit marks out. What in doing here serves no purpose at all but to keep my hands busy while watching series my wife forces me to watch with her.
