Local flea market today...Vendors are starting to thin out for the season..My first blue handle...3 dollars....too much?

to me thats a very good price. not sure what they retail in your side of the world, but here in oz, a set of channellocks are like $30-70. so $3 is at most 10% of retail

After doing some research I think it is for electrical linesmans thus easier to switch when wearing gloves. Come to think of it the sale had quit a few what looked to be professional electrical/linesman tools.

Picked up a few tools this weekend including this Hazet 450 17x19 wrench. Took a look on ebay and they sell for quite a bit. Why? Are they particularly rare?

Based on the lowercase "a" that one is a pre-1965 wrench I believe. The P-car and VW guys like them because the are OE tools for their cars. You should see what the round VW tool kits go for.

Some classics in there, good find. I went around a few years ago and bugged everyone I knew to sell me their old systems, but I have yet to find any of this stuff at garage sales.

I've got some dupes and you have me checking eBay to unload them. Any idea how people are shipping games for 2-3 bucks?

I'm wondering that myself!

I read on some of them they are shipping them in bubble envelope standard shipping.

I was going to sell one and see how it goes, if I loose money I'll call it a learning experience....

Go with media mail. only works for paper, tapes records, CD's, DVD's and other stored media, and those games are stored media... ;)

Other than that bubble pack envelope as mentioned.

I'd agree with the reasoning; for use with gloves, but that looks like a one-off to me, the thumb grip is a (for the period) standard thumb screw, and you can see where it was welded/brazed, and that sure looks like silver paint over the top, not plating to me.

I couldn't help but put it together (mostly). Don't have the tensioner locked into place, but I wanted to show it off assembled. I had to have the neighbor help me stand up the base so I can cover it for a while. Popped my back out moving it yesterday.

Outlaws spot on! I forgot about media mail. They ship that stuff SO cheap! Come to think about it, I've sold some C-Man manuals on ebay and forgot to use media mail package..could've saved some pennies.

And btw, the post office lady said media can't have advertisements in in, as in magazines etc.

This was cut/pasted directly from the USPS' website Media Mail® shipping is a cost-effective way to send educational materials in 2 to 8 days. This service has restrictions on the type of media that can be sent. This includes a restriction on sending video games and digital drives.

All mail is subject to postal inspection, but this stuff is red flagged because of people not following the rules. The minimal $$ you are "trying" to save could possible cost you in the long run.

Really nice score there, Stormking! Digging that old steering wheel and Proto socket box... but I am mostly digging that ole truck of yours hauling that haul! Too cool! 1960-ish Chevy C10 with original patina?

Lovin the Proto Stormking, lots of killer Craftsman as well

Outlaw, that plane is crazy old!! I made the mistake of picking just the outrigger from one of those at a garage sale once, I had the handle in my hand but could not figure out what went to it so I put it down. I got home and looked it up...:shocking: would have been worth a few hundred $$ had I saved the entire thing :lol_hitti

Yesterday didn't yield much for sales around town. Less so for tools, so I ventured out of my usual zone and into the county. This is not the usual kind of tool I would buy, but in our house we will use it.
Its an old caner setup. It's not a great picture, but it came with dies for sealing various types of cans. And it came with several hundred cans. You might think the GE box contains one giant light bulb. Nope! Cans. And that contains only a few of them. No place to put them, but hey! $10.00? cant go wrong.
Almost forgot to explain the poster board. There were three intact ones in one of the can boxes. This is a function that our Antique Tractor and Machinery folks put on. They are running 43 years strong and this is from their second year. I'm thinking of contacting them and seeing if they want them.
Wasn't going to bother with the socket rail, but wiping off a bunch of gunk it revealed the Snap-On logo. And a dollar got me the smallest work light ever. The hook and the door are hinged even. Nice details! It's wired for a 6V auto cigaret lighter.
Didn't spend a lot, and that's a good thing, I guess. To my wife, I suppose.
Everyone else, good finds as always!

$10 lot with SO stubby, YOU ****!! But I really like the hand clamps, I do wonder how you are one of the only people finding these though :dunno: Cool Bell hammer too, all good stuff!

You mean the tiny hand vises? They come up every once in a while; these came from one of my "competitors" on the circuit, but he seems to give me decent prices generally when he's selling. :dunno: I guess it pays not to screw with them when we are both buying.

9four, I was pretty shocked at it's age. I have a plated version, actually a couple of them, but one is fair and one is a basket case. I don't think those are nearly as old. :dunno: But I'v learned, if i see the parts, and they are cheap BUY THEM! As even parts are worth something to someone.

No tools this weekend, but I did find a new umbrella stand......came with 2 umbrellas and a shoehorn. Guess I was the only one who noticed it was a 5" Naval powder shell. Dated 2-54 5"/38 caliber.

Dang guys (and gals) some major suckage going on recently.

Outlaw, great "free stuff"
Nine, $5 box O' craftsman. Fantastic deal.
Richard, you must have done something right for 50¢ spinner ratchets
stormking, please post more details. Looks like some sweet stuff. Particularly that old outboard.
4BT, great find on that "umbrella holder". You're not thinking of reloading that are you? ;)

Crazy busy weekend for me but I stumbled onto a dozen or so sales saturday afternoon on my way home. Quite a few sales "sold tools earlier" or had misc off shore items. Finally I lucked out (I think, it's no $5 box of cman stuff though) and found this older Kennedy 520 loaded to the gills with misc "stuff". Had to weigh 100+lbs, no joke. Never before have I seen Kreauter or Utica stuff at a garage sale. Well the PO must have been a fan of them. A few Kreauter, Utica, and Klein pliers. Cman wrenches and screwdrivers. Even in the pic the Kennedy is still packed with misc drill bits, end mills, taps, reamers, nails, screws, and a bunch of hex keys. Hammers are, Vaughan USA small and a PLUMB "Leader" needs a handle  but both in really nice shape.

The kennedy itself is in real nice shape. I know most people seem to stumble upon these all the time for dirt cheap. That has not been my experience, maybe a regional thing :dunno: Front cover intact, good felt, all drawer pulls solid, not rusted out. Overall a very solid little box.

Last 2 pics are stuff I found on my way home friday. Pulled up to a stop sign, looked left, looked right, looked left again and saw the handle looking things sticking out of a recycle bin. Pulled over and proceeded to dig (yea no shame here). Dug out a long pair of tongs (?, what I originally saw) as well as a USA tap wrench, pry bar (been needing one), a neat USA drill index, and a pair of channellock 430's :rocker: I can't believe this stuff was in someone's recycle bin. Don't worry, they have a loving home now. ;)

EDIT If someone needs those keys for your vintage craftsman box let me know.

Picked up a few things at an estate sale on Saturday.. The blue hardware storage cases are full of random hardware (bolts, screws, pipe *******, brass fittings).

14 saw blades, mostly 7 1/4" and 9" carbide tipped.

5 socket rails, one brand new Starrett tape measure, and a pair of Snap-on 57R linesman pliers.
2013-09-08T12-59-39_2a.jpg

Total was $60.

Great stuff zkling. Let me know if you wanna get rid of any Klein pliers!

Thanks Jeff, I thought of you. The older ones are in pristine condition. The newer w/ grips are pretty rough cutting edge wise (large chip), but super hefty pliers. You'll be the first person I contact if I do let them go (I seem to have a hard time with that). :lol_hitti

Oops. Looks like I forget to put in the original post, $30 for the entire lot, which included 2 pewter dishes, not pictured. Then of course $0 for the stuff I dug out of someones recycle bin. :D

Nice! Check your PMs, BTW

Great finds, jkeller. I love those fastener bins.
Interesting how the yellow and blue Xcelite drivers do not all have the same style shafts, but the part numbers appear to be the same...

Went to a little flea market yesterday, bunch of small items, amongst them a pr of Snap On mini ign pliers like Channellocks, boxes of stainless machine screws, and these 2.
First is a little socket box, had a bunch of little trinkets in it, including 3 1/4" drive Williams sockets, so I'm guessing it's a Williams box? Liked the cool decal.

Then I stumbled across this Starrett T465XSP-2 micrometer head, 2" range, .0001 resolution, speed handle, come to find out it's around $700. to buy a new one:shocking:
