why wouldn't it? just use some dunnage or a scrap 6x6 block or whatever you got. sometimes i use firewood rounds. **** sometimes i use firewood rounds for jack stands, too. and if i don't want to drag my jack out i just stack up 2x4's in a ramp pattern and drive up those lol
Never did that with the ramp 2 x 4:s but would/do you trust them not to kick out to the sides?
I just read all the reviews on the HF site, ..... All favorable.
May have been mentioned.

FWIW just recently there has been one ebay seller after another unloading 10 or more of these Daytona jacks for right around $100 each w/ free shipping. No doubt it sounds a little sketchy for that price and especially as they all seem to be listed by new sellers with little to no previous ebay sales ratings, though there has been a few that have had a handful of feedback from very satisfied-sounding buyers of these jacks from them. I've been watching the listings come up over and over for a couple weeks now waffling over whether I would rather take the gamble or not, and at that price they keep selling out very quick.

I was googling around wondering how on earth it was possible to have free shipping on a +100 lb jack for that price when I stumbled on this thread. Is it possible it's Harbor Freight unloading excess stock of these things just because of the lawsuit? I don't know. For that price I am considering buying one. Just thought I'd mention it here.

The main reason I started shopping these things on ebay and elsewhere is because for the last month or so I'd been wanting one I found that the only local Harbor Freight to me doesn't stock them at all. First trip there no one seemed to know what I was talking about and on the second I took a copy of the online sales page & the manager said they do not have any nor do they plan to get any. He suggested I could order it online which I haven't ruled out but that just adds another $7 for shipping plus the main advantage of buying from HF for me would be the warranty & HF's customer service, but if the only store near me doesn't sell them I don't know what that's worth.

I do really want one of these jacks. Wondering what any of you think? Has anyone dealt with HF customer service on an online order before?

EDIT: What the heck. I went ahead and took the gamble and placed an order on ebay. I haven't done much buying there before and I noticed that none of the sellers offer returns but eBay does say they have a "Money Back Guarantee if you received an item that is not as described in the listing." If it's not all that it's supposed to be I'll chalk it up as a lesson learned and order from HF while I try and jump through ebay's hoops to get my money back.

I'll post back here if & when my ebay gamble arrives. Fingers crossed.
Well, let us know for sure then.
When is it supposed to get here?

When is it supposed to get here?

I just ordered on Fri afternoon so all I have so far is the standard ebay "Estimated between Wed. Nov. 2 and Wed. Nov. 9". The seller I bought from did post that they "Will usually ship within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment" & that it's supposed to be sent via UPS SurePost. Paypal takes a business day to clear which I'm assuming means the earliest I'll get a notice that it shipped will be Mon-Tue if this all goes well for me.

I don't know anyone who hasn't used a scrap piece of 2x4 or 4x4 as a spacer for a jack that wouldn't otherwise reach what they needed it to. Got to be a bit careful how you use it though as lumber can and will split on you. Pressure treated is a lot better in that regard.

I wouldn't go anywhere near a car/truck using a firewood round or lumber as a jack stand though. Just reading that scares the bejeezus out of me. I would hope you're using hickory or black gum or elm, something with a crossgrain, rather than your more typical firewood that's easy to split like maple or most oaks, etc. that said, even then you couldn't pay me to crawl under a vehicle on a log for a jack stand. :yikes:

I really hope you get your jack, but UPS SurePost has a weight limit of 70lbs.
https://www.ups.com/worldshiphelp/W..._Weight_Limits_for_UPS_SurePost_Shipments.htm

The Daytona jack weighs 104 lbs, 112lbs shipping weight.

I think u guys should be fine. Most likely a stolen shipping container is why they are being sold

I ordered one as well. Definitely, looks suspicious but PayPal has a funds hold for new sellers of up to 21 days. If negative reviews start popping up or mine doesn't ship this week, I will begin the process for a refund. Shipping a 100lb package would approach the price I paid based on my past experience.

Snap on themselves are all the Ebay sellers. They bought a container full, and are selling them below Harbor Freight's cost. :D

Interesting that the O.P., Nitsua98, started this Thread and over 19 pages and 370+ posts, never came back on. I'd wager a shovel full of cow manure against a crate of oranges he's somehow, someway associated with Snap-On's legal team and started this Thread with the express purpose of S.O. getting some ammo to use in the lawsuit.

He has been on the forum for 4 years with only 1 other post. It may just be that he reads but doesn't post.

I've never seen eBay listings like this before. Several sellers from all over the country, all with zero history as a seller, all listed between $95 & $100. Several ads state "31 sold" or therebouts but if you look at the sellers history you find just one sold...yesterday...and all sellers sold it about the same time Sunday morning.

Must be the russians have hacked into eBay now...

Seen this tactic many times before in electronics. For example several multimeters will have something like this. They come in at 1/2 to 1/3 the price, several different sellers, etc. It is never the most will known stuff such as a Fluke. It is usually the next company down. I still haven't figured out how they get their money.

Has anyone received tracking information?

Unfortunately no. Not yet. The seller I bought from's listing does say they "Will usually ship within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment" and it hasn't been that long, but nevertheless I am starting to suspect something's wrong, especially since the listing says it will be sent UPS Surepost & as L.Cheapo pointed out above, this jack's ~30lbs or more over Surepost's max weight limit.

I'll give it a few days but if I'm not seeing tracking by Thur I'm going to chalk it up as a loss for now & start jumping through whatever hoops I'll have to via ebay/paypal to see about getting my money back & go ahead and order on Fri from Harbor Freight using the $20 off coupon in today's 'November Super Coupons' email good till Nov 30th.

One way or another I'm getting one of these jacks soon.

This really ***** for anyone who fell into the trap!

Post number 337 of this thread was by a user named WWheeler. At the time of that post he was a BRAND NEW user on this site.... it was his first post. He is the guy who alerted all of us about the great deals on eBay for this jack. I have suspected all along that he was/is a scammer who created an account on this site to "advertise" the eBay listings and drive as many sales as possible before eBay discovered the scam and pulled the listings. Basically, he was using this site to help the eBay scam all along! It is a bit suspicious that a BRAND NEW user comes on here to post about a deal to good to be true on eBay. He didn't exactly defend the listings, but he was openly optimistic and even claimed he purchased one himself..... in order to persuade others to fall into the trap.

The very next post (#338) was from me..... the last sentence in my post was.... "You know what they say, any time a deal is too good to be true, it usually is." Hopefully anyone who tried to buy one of these on ebay will get their money back. Fingers crossed for you guys.

I could be completely wrong about WWheeler.... but I doubt it! :dunno:

I already got my money back even though Ebay cancelled the transaction for fraud, they still wanted me to go to the resolution center to contact the seller and allow 7 days for it to be resolved. Their whole customer service is built around not being able to get in contact with them and that you jump through all the hurdles before you talk to a real person. Even then they said they had to investigate the issue even though they were the ones who flagged it and cancelled the transaction. I had to argue with them that there is no need for an investigation and ******** pull the money back now while its still available. Perhaps I would have gotten my money back either way but the process is far from reassuring.

The one thing the scammers didn't realize is that there is a long hold on new sellers before the funds are finalized.

You guys are watching too much CSI, so your theory is that he joined the site 15+ months previous in hopes to scam members out of Money. There is no need to cross fingers, you would have a better chance being struck by lightening versus not being protected via EBay.

LOL.... I'm glad you believe everything you see/read/hear on the internet.

No CSI.... he may have joined 15 months ago but his first post was about the jack ebay listing scam. He's a real person (not a computer bot) so it IS possible that he joined a tool forum because he likes tools..... which would be right in-line with a tool related eBay scam. Am I saying he created his account 15 month ago knowing he was going to post an ebay scam over a year later? Hell no. I'm saying, it's possible that he was involved in an ebay scam, then remembered he had an account with the largest tool forum on the internet and decided to use the forum to help his scam along. That's not a far stretch....

This is the internet... not everyone, or everything is what they/it appears to be. You don't think there is ANY irony that his first post was about an eBay scam?

Everyone is entitled to there opinion I suppose, I definitely don't read "scam" into his wishy washy appearance on buying from eBay, it seems honest to me. With all that said... The curiosity of this Jacks valve system and seal status intrigued me enough to take a chance, I didn't go with the cheapest eBay link, I chose $109 model with verified feedback and received my tracking number via Fed ex at 112lbs today. Don't let me get in the way... You guys and your theories are entertaining.. Please Carry On... :pimpflash

That sounds great! I will be awaiting your full analysis of this jack once you complete your exam.

Theories..... lol, As if scams/hacking/ID theft/etc. never happen on eBay, or the internet itself. Everything on the internet is as it appears with no reason to ever question the legitimacy of anything.

There must be a reason why eBay created the "feedback" system? :pimpflash

Sure they happen, Which is where my simple rule of " A man must know his limitations". If as a consumer you can't possibly go 2 weeks with your money *******, Or fully understand the EBay buyer protection policy, Don't take chances. I on the other hand have scored some crazy good deals on eBay due to lethargic descriptions pictures etc. The buyer protection via EBay is insane, Scam or not. I wouldn't call this a killer deal by any means, but since no one else was willing to put wrench to there New Jack (understandable) I took the plunge for science... Ha

I'll report back when it shows up, hell it may be a Box full of Rocks.

It kinda ***** being a seller on eBay but buyers are incredibly protected. I don't think anyone who has bought one of these "too good to be true" jacks has anything to worry about.

Odd that the Item Number IanG posted doesn't exist. I would think eBay would leave it up with an explanation in order to warn others.

I am genuinely excited that you have one of these jacks on the way. It is no doubt that you ARE the authority of hydraulic floor jacks on this forum and I (along with MANY others, I'm sure) will be anxious to hear your opinions of this jack.

However, to knock on me for even questioning the legitimacy of WWheeler, or the eBay listings was kinda poor on your part. Lets take a look at this....

1. This jack is a BRAND NEW item that HF is very proud of. One that just recently started selling in their stores... For there to be excess inventory ALREADY in the hands of private eBay sellers is a reason for question.
2. A new forum user (regardless of join date) makes his first post to tell all of us on this forum, about questionable eBay listing for this jack at half (give or take) the selling price of HF.
3. When I looked at the eBay listings, very few, if any of the eBay sellers had ANY reputable feedback as a seller, and only a couple feedback as a buyer.
4. A new forum user with zero previous posts, and eBay sellers with very little or no reputable feed back. Hhmmm..... 2+2. Even I can do simple math.
5. Forum user "IanG" makes a post about eBay contacting him to let him know that he was involved in a scam and canceled the eBay listing that he purchased from, and to start a claim to get his money back.
6. After all this is when I mentioned that maybe WWheeler might actually be involved in the scam.
7. At this time is when Hiball gets on here to basically tell me that I'm a conspiracy theorist and that I'd have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than WWheeler being involved in a eBay scam.

THEN, AFTER ALL THAT.... Hiball informs me that he has ordered a jack from eBay and has received a tracking number from FedEx. You see, this is information that I did NOT have when I was originally questioning WWheeler. Hiball tried to make me the fool for even questioning the legitimacy of this whole deal when only HE had information that might show otherwise.

And one last thing.... sure eBay might have excellent buyer protection, but that is irrelevant to my suspension of WWheeler/ebay scam. Even if eBay gets your money back, that doesn't mean the scam didn't happen.

I received the same letter from eBay as IanG did. While I was navigating the ebay resolution center, I noticed I had another email saying the jack has been shipped, and not by surepost like they had claimed earlier. It's FedEx and they've provided me /w a tracking number. I'm honestly not sure if the jack is coming or WTF the deal is here. I hope the jacks coming lol..

I'm also noticing a lot more accounts with zero/no feedback posting CHEAP CHEAP harbor freight stuff. 6.5HP predator engine for 69.99 shipped. that's half of what HF charges..

edit:deleted ebay links they didn't link to the right items anyways. but there's multiple sellers on ebay with names like Georgewinno-0 jeanpet-0, to stay wary of -0 suffix

edit: also worth noting, is the jack says it's shipping from south carolina. The Ebay listing said it was in Michigan...

Wow...1st and foremost, my eBay purchase has nothing to do with you, previously you had already made it clear that you had already pieced this puzzle together and claimed the butler did it in the pantry. Please, Don't drag me into your story... this is why it's always best to have all the facts before you make blank statements.

Secondly... you are entitled to your opinion of the Ebay listings and the member in question, im. It's yours, Own it... My is just different it's not personal.

Wow...1st and foremost, my eBay purchase has nothing to do with you, previously you had already made it clear that you had already pieced this puzzle together and claimed the butler did it in the pantry. Please, Don't drag me into your story... this is why it's always best to have all the facts before you make blank statements.

Well said Hiball!!

Secondly... you are entitled to your opinion of the Ebay listings and the member in question, im. It's yours, Own it... My is just different it's not personal.

At the time I made my first post this morning I had all the info needed for me to question this whole deal, including WWheeler.

In your first reply to me, instead telling me I watch to much CSI, and that all my ideas are just theories, and telling me I have a better chance of getting hit by lightning, you could have simply said... "hey, I ordered a jack and it's on it's way via Fedex. Maybe these eBay listings are legit" Nope, instead you chose to go the other route. I'm just defending myself.
