BTW, to unload this bandsaw we just unbolted the lifting beam and we were able to move it right out.

I was wondering about that.:D

That's great that your material lift is working so well! Looks like you had plenty of good help, too. I noticed that you put in a couple wood guides on the floor joist, to help guide it back through on the way up, so it doesn't try to snag the edge.

Yea!!! Internet and wifi connected in new house. Cable also. Moving in this weekend, maybe. I have my kitchen stuff moved in. Carpet goes in tomorrow. Friday/Satuday we'll be moving furniture. Little stuff later. We just want to have enough to be able to wawtch the Super Bowl on Sunday. Permanent staircases go in next week sometime.

Lots of good progress happening!

Good It will be a Super Bowl you will never forget. I have really enjoyed watching the build of your Home and all the details that have been included in the build, and I believe that a lot of the small things done in the house are not being done in most modern homes being built today.. Great Job and enjoy your new home and may you two have many happy years in it.

All this for Super Bowl Party? Gotta say you've knocked it out of the park! You definitely owe yourselves a little TV time and relaxation for pushing through so hard. Almost there.

Congrats. on everything up to this point. The lift and moving all the heavy equipment is a huge advancement toward your complete move in.
Well done and very impressive as usual for Thomas and Chris.

Well, instead of doing all the moving on Friday/Saturday, Tom moved the schedule up. As soon as the carpet installers left, we proceeded to begin the move. Yesterday and today (Friday) got most of the large furniture pieces into the new house, including all 3 bedrooms. At 8:30pm, we had our 1st meal (leftovers) in the house and we'll sleep here tonight (and from now on). Yea!!! Tom's watching a movie on his big projection screen with the surround sound.

Tomorrow (Saturday) morning, we have a couple high school football players helping with the last of the moving (just a few furniture pieces left, then lots of books) from the second floor of the house (that I moved there almost 1 1/2 years ago). Then all that's left in the house is stuff for donation or Craig's List. What a relief!

We'll have a relaxing day on Sunday with our kids here for the Super Bowl. Thanks for following along with the move everyone.

First Night!!!!!!!!

Many, many, many, many thanks to everyone for all your good wishes. Just short of 10 months since we started, and we have been moving in all day yesterday and today. We finally got enough "stuff" moved in today where we can now call this home!

I've got some help coming tomorrow to help move the really large, heavy pieces. By close of tomorrow, Saturday, we should be largely all moved in. We've been blessed with dry weather for all this moving. I'd rather be lucky than good. :)

The stairway won't be installed for another week and the mantel is still waiting for finish work, but other than that, we're largely done in the main house and can live comfortably here. There are a few other small odds and ends to go as well. Now my attention will turn to setting up the basement shop. That will take a bit of time so stand by for that.

I've only spent a few hours here tonight to relax and finally get a sense of what it will be like to live here and I must say it is going to worth every bit of my long hours to get to this point. It exceeds my expectations which is very satisfying. I predict we're going to enjoy ourselves as we move into another phase of our lives.

I've still got some construction details to share so check back here, we're not done yet!

Happy Camper Thomas

WOW I am loving this thread and your lift awesome, makes me want a lift now.. but I don't have two floors to install one... but you have given me an idea for how to lift some parts from my street level into my back yard (floor level down)

Congratulations to all. I have been following along for the whole build and am excited to see the finished product. I am also excited to see some of the more detailed posts I am sure Tomas will provide when he has time to catch up.

As others have said, congratulations on spending your first night in your new beautiful home. Well done on all accounts, attention to detail really doesn't express how much thought and planning must have gone into this home.

Spending that first night in your new home is a truly satisfying event. For me, that feeling was 19 years ago...wow, does time fly!

Congratulations to both of you on your new wonderful home, and many thanks for taking us all along for the ride.

Move In Pictures

After all this time for those who have been following along, here are a few preliminary pictures with some furniture in. Now we have to find appropriate furniture that will fit the space or reupholster existing.

The screen is motorized self-stowing, 133" (3.3 m) diagonal, self- tensioning. When the room darkening shades are in use the picture looks great, even in strong sunlight outside. Without them it's not too bad.

When not in use it's out of view.

The ceiling projector also functions as the TV along with displaying movies etc.

Yes the fireplace needs the mantel, badly!

I've started moving my office in upstairs. We have a long way to go, but we're in!!!!

The Super Bowl starts in about an hour so I follow up on this.....later. :bounce:

"The lift worked flawlessly all day long."
Because the operator has been flawlessly in his execution.

Best Regards,

Chris & Tom - Thank you for letting us share this journey with you. The home looks as pleasant and welcoming as the shop. I do find it interesting that you've put so much effort into creating a beautiful place to relax when it appears that neither of you ever do. I hope that you give your selves permission to enjoy that space. You deserve it.
