Out to Jakes flea mrkt w/ daughter and my dad. Pleasant sun and dry air.
$13.50 today bought a 1920s 21” 1/2dr Snap-on 4A speeder, NOS Western Auto machinist replacement handle, NOS Starett “greenline” hacksaw blades, Barcalo tack lifter, Indestro-marked hex drive 3/8(?) L-handle w/unmarked socket, four 6-screwdriver pegboard hooks, CM 1/4dr uni, Bonney D21 socket (this irked me after I made a closer inspection at home - several small cracks from abuse), multiple Bonney DOEs, Bonney CV DBE, Bonney 7/16” chisel, Proto LA 5/16” chisel.
What I didn’t buy included a Craftsman machinist chest sans front panel (guy was asking $10) and a GS canteen. On the way home atopped at three TOO garage sale, spotting some spud wrenches but not buying them, and then picking up a pressed fiberboard picture frame from a “free” pile that had exactly the right size glass for a wood picture frame at home.

Idaho, Liquore Galliano has a licorice flavor to it. Only ever used it in making lemon drop shots...

Went to 3 sales today tool related. First sale was a pop up on FB Marketplace that was on my route to the 2 planned stops. Picked up the Vise Grip clamps for $25. I had went to the sale because of the ad had a large toolbox posted. Gentleman was asking $800 for the box, would not sell the 2 Craftsman side cabinets(what I was after) separate. I had to walk away as there is no room for the box in my garage at the moment. The bath remodel makes it hard to use my shop as it is and I'm constantly playing Jenga as it is.
001.jpg018.jpg
The next 2 sales brought out more Craftsman wrenches, 3pc Vadimonium wrenches, Arrow stapler,SK socket set,Jorgensen clamp,PowrKraft 1/4''breaker,
Craftsman DBE set, and a Bostitch framing nailer ,which is identical to mine,I discovered mine leaks air badly(after loaning to wife's friends) and needs a rebuild, this one was priced much less than a rebuild and works like a champ, using the nails I already have. I hate buying air tools without testing but rolled the dice. Fortunately I won today.

I have some odds and ends that I haven't had time to post about for months, nothing too important... but I had to skip ahead to hurry and post something I got today that I'm hoping one of you expert collectors of military stuff will know about.

It is a bundle of 19 metal pieces, each approximately 2.5"x5.25", which I'm guessing are drawer dividers from a cabinet looking something like this:
attachment.php

They all, or at least most (I've only taken one out of the tied-up stack), have a hand-written label on very old tape with some kind of ID number. The one I took out of the stack also had, on one side, a typewriter-printed label (coming loose) saying "WASH COPR FF ELLIOT" followed by more numbers. Any ideas what it all means?? :headscrat I know there was a Camp Elliot, but there must be many other possible meanings.
attachment.php

I could be wrong about it having anything to do with military stuff, but with the army green color, it seemed like a possibility. I have no need for them personally, but I rescued them from the trash near the end of a church garage sale because they looked old and I thought they might be just right for some antique cabinet one of you might have.

Some great scores going to this weekend! Good going guys!

VERY slow day for numbers of sales, and mostly the sale that were were out there were rotten. I only bought anything at the first and the last...

the first had these two bins and one had a few screws (metric I think); the other was empty. One had metal dividers, the other plastic. :dunno: $5 for both.

attachment.php

The LAST stop had a bunch of stuff from this guy;s fathers shop He knew nothing about tools but the father had a wood work shop.

This stand caught my eye right away. Not sure yet what tool the top plate holds, (band saw maybe?) but I knew it was coming home if not stupidly priced:

attachment.php

then I saw this:

attachment.php

Looked it over and the guy came over and mentioned his dads wood working, and I commented this lathe was for metal but could be used for wood. He comes out with a $10 price and I think a minute (I had not been planing on buying it...) and said "I'll take it - What do you want for the stand?" Another ten. :bounce:

Both motors are Westinghouse 1726 1/2 HP (and 115V so pretty old); the one on the stand seems to run fine. The one on the lathe needs a new cord its not even fully hooked up...

Its an Atlas made Craftsman" 6 X 18. (I already have a 109 Craftsman 6 X 12, and an atlas/Craftsman 12X36 fully tooled)

So, as usual, when I'm off on a weekend I hit the flea market and some E and G sales. Found some pretty good stuff. Pics to come later after clean up had other **** to do first. One thing I have no clue what it is so here it is... Does anyone have a clue? It reads: NAT STEELPROD. CO. TOLEDO C. PAT PEND on the top and looks like GRIPWEL on the back side under the hinge. Had what looks like a broken strap underneath held in place at each end by screwed on plates.

Nice score Outlaw! that's the same model I picked up a few weeks ago! There is a bit of rust on that, but it has potential!

RT, I think that is a jaw adapter for a vise. Open up one of your vises and set it so the "weight" is over the back of the jaw, and the other part is griping against the opposite jaw. if for round things, you need two.

Thanks Duddly. I think so too! I did some looking in the catalogs, and its in the 1959 power tools catalog, and my 12 is in there also. (it was new that year).

I think the stand is for either a 3 wheel band saw, or more likely the 18" jig saw. :dunno:

Went to a nearby village-wide yard sales...lots of heat, too many people, nothing good to be had.

But I wasn't ending the day empty handed. Found another close sale and got the following:
Mac MR5 1/4 ratchet (not my pic, already gave it to my old man for father's day)
Cornwell 24" 3/8 extension- good user
Williams satin 7/8 combo Superrench- unused but some rust

for $20

Also picked up this almost new Bonney 1-1/4 combo off eBay for $10. It has the Loc-Rite broaching in the box end, very nice wrench.

The neighbors joined my Wife and I for a morning of checking out garage and estate sales over the hill in Gardnerville and Minden NV. The first few sales were forgettable but the later sales were more productive. The best find of the day was a toolbox stack that we split. My neighbor took the top box and I took the grey and red Craftsman roller. Here are some pictures.

Outlaw that’s a well earned YOU ****! All the work you put it pays off on a deal like that.

Looking good there lately guys!

Today I hit the flea market. One of my vendor friends (older guy) was irritated that sales were down. I said yeah, snowbird season came and went. He said “Have you seen this place? It’s a nursing home!”. :spit: Just then an old lady was passing with a walker.

I still get a kick out of those irritable vendors. It’s hard to buy from some of the regulars at this place they are so miserable. The other fleas they are good. Must be the cost of rent.

Anyways, I had a nice day there. Things have slowed down, but prices were good today.

Pic 1- Proto 3/8 round head ratchet, 25 cent KING **** screwdriver find! My first King **** tool, lol.
Large bent nose plier, no name, SO?
Smaller bent nose Utica plier
Screwdrivers- stanley racing edition, Craftsman, Ridgid, stubby Craftsman

Pic 2- more of KING ****

Pic 3 Land of the Unknown but cool stuff.
-2 large chisels with no maker,
-an unmarked wood mallet,
-odd little red metal hammer. Toffee mallet???
-Tiny unmarked ball peen
-An odd hammer by Cheney. Adze hammer I think. I couldn’t leave it.
-smaller Karpenter brand chisel

Pic 4-6 little red hammer. It has a small triangle forge mark with something inside.

Pic 7 Cheney hammer adze

You guys are killing it out there.

Omw to a job I just happened to see a sale on the corner of the street I had to work at.

Quickly grabbed these for $25 ea.

Kennedy is full of random stuff I haven't gone through yet, and the wire rack is full of 12 gauge solid.

Made a decent haul for the day. Got half of it cleaned up. Found a couple of neat things. At one E sale the guy told me there were pretty much zero tools. I look around and end up in the pool house. Looking through a box of mower parts . as I pushed the box back onto the shelf I see a knurled handle peeking out from behind it. I pull it out and recognize it as old Snap On. WAs excited to see it. $1. Next E sale was kinds of the same way, but I found a box with some old drivers in it. and pulled out a nice Proto wood-handled Philips with a bunch of Yellow paint on it. 50 cents! I still have a milk crate with a bunch to clean up tomorrow.

Clamps:
Wilton 4" needs a pad

Ratchets:
Challenger 1/4
Duro Chrome 3/8 in small body
SK 3/8 great shap
Wright 3/8 works really good

Breaker:
Proto LA 3/8

Driver:
Proto Philips blue stripe wood handled

Punch:
Cresent

Speedsters:
SnapOn 1/2
Plomb 3/8 wf23

Pliers/cutters:
Boker cutters
Fleet pliers

T Handle:
Proto 1/4

Weird double ended 3/8 extension with socket type attachment

Wrenches:
John Deere x 2 Combo
Cornwell combo
Penens Combo
Duro chrome long Combo

Sockets:
Plomb swivel, and 3/4, 3/8 drv
Krauter 1" extensions x2
P&C deep socket
Another one of Zorro's tools.. looks to be a 1/2 extension with no detent ball. Chromium Vanadium marking and knurling only. Z mark on the top. Obviously belonged to Zorro.

All cleaned up with new power cord. Just needs new stones.

Here's a Pro Tip - If you change the light bulb and the lamp still doesn't work, don't immediately tear into it, pull the old wiring, drive to the hardware store to get the right size spade connectors, cut up a perfectly good extension cord and rewire the lamp only to have it still not work. Just wait a few seconds after you turn it on. Apparently, the larger grinders need to get up to speed before the light comes on. /smh

Nice job! :pimpflash

Went to several garage sales today. Most of them were a bust tool wise, but two panned out. The first one had a Craftsman tool box, two small metal boxes, and two small tackle boxes for $6. One tackle box had some tackle in it, but I haven't gone through it yet. Also picked up a full spool of barbed wire for $10. One of the antique stores I frequent had a Baker Hand Made hatchet for $8. The last garage sale had 19 files for $20; and a set of calipers, Tumico square, two Stanley line levels, Stanley bevel gauge and a small hammer and pry bar combo for $20. Happy Father's Day to the all the Paternal Pickers out there in 2018 Garage (and Yard/Estate/Fleamarket) Sale Thread Land!

Rather than eat up half the day on my own, I limited myself to one stop so I could spend some time with the fam (one of my gifts from DD#1 is apparently a new game that everyone is excited about - we're very competitive!) and the result was a very small haul.

The 8-inch Lineman's Pliers are WWII (with an extra, martial "U.S." stamp on the pivot). Not sure of the application on the Snap-on DBE wrench. It's also WWII, not to be found in any catalog, though, and I suspect either a brake wrench or possibly a cylinder head nut wrench for an Indian or HD WLA motorcycle.

Outlawmws, that stand is for the 4 3/8" jointer planer.

Close, but more likely the 4-1/8" I would not have expected that as it only has the 3 mounting holes on the tool plate. Certainly the outlines fit the 4-1/8 better than my guesses.

I obtained this through a trade with another member. I like the grease zirts and the bearing side guides.

Better pics of the SO boxes.

Outlaw, great find. That base looks like for the 2 wheel vertices bandsaw, a friend just picked one up last week and looks identical. I really like the motor mount on it.

I think we are on the right track with the small jointer, Now that I think about it, the column post was absolutely full of wood chips, and not the finer dust of a saw, but could easily have been from the jointer.

From the catalog pic, the blade head would have been in perfect position to fill that tube.
