Wow, i'm really a grey with red, white and black fan but those above are all amazing!

Figured I would try and broaden some members horizons. :dunno:

The one with the bluestone and Porsche is noting short of amazing, so tasteful, but $$$, that stone isn't cheap.

Here is the job completed before and after..
went with a darker gray and white ceiling.

It is alot more work than I thought with prep.. clean the walls and trim ceiling etc took a long time. I carefully removed the ugly built ins cabs also. Funky sliding doors with unfinished drywall inside.

ceiling that took 3 cans of paint. Zinsser (never again!) Should have used just good quality white paint.
walls only took 1.5 cans of designer brand paint.. seems like it's floor epoxy you pay more you get more solid/pigment and better coverage.

The inside of my garage matches the colors that Kobalt uses. Gray on the two side walls, and blue on the front and back wall. I used Glidden paint, so I just took my Kobalt hammer into Home Depot and matched up the colors as close as I could.

Came out great, clean, tasteful, great job. Did you match the grey paint to the grey on the tiles, and pick something inbwteeen? Hard to tell in the pic, but the grey looks a bit cooler hue wise than the lighter grey in the tiles.

i was not trying to match the silver gray tiles, i liked a 3rd color

it does have a bit tiny bit of blue hue to it just took a bunch of swatches and picked one

I took all the leftover paint (FREE!!) in the garage, mixed it together (FREE!!). Came out a very nice (NO COST !!) beige. About 4 gallons of it.
Out of pocket ? Zero.
And it cost me nothing.
Did I mention it was free ? And, it cleared off a shelf.

In the vien of FREE I used this grey that the local transfer station gives away. They collect paint at the recycle area mix it all together, put it in 5gal buckets and give it away for free. Did have to buy the accent blue though.

Great looking walls, folks.

Yep, you can never have too much light. Here is mine, gray on bottom to cover dirt and marks, white on top including ceiling to help in the light department (my eyes have been better), and a blue strip for a little prettiness and an area for all electrical and air outlets.

I went with the the whitest white that Rodda sold. While the colors look really nice, I was more interested in getting the best light reflection I could get. I did throw in a blue strip to dress it up a bit. One thing though I discovered with the white was later touch ups do not match well. My garage was done back in 2006 and a couple weeks back I had to do some touch ups on it. Went down to Rodda and got a qt. of the same white. It is much whiter then the original paint on the wall. It amazing how much yellowing the paint has over the years...

I'm not saying this will work all the time. But I painted my walls tan, most all the cabinetry green and then included some red toolboxes and a red clock. I guess you could call it an accent color.

Yesterday, Hot Rod magazine brought a model by who was dressed in the same accent color for a photo shoot.

Did the colors make it happen? Maybe. :)

So consider those colors well. It's an important decision.

I understand white makes the garage looks brighter, I had done the whole walls and ceiling with 5 gallon white paint before, but a darker color is more refreshing for me, love it more every time I walk into it, at least the novelty hasn't worn off yet :)

My wife's suggestion, celery green... Not plain white but not too dark and its not grey. I'm going to need to think about this one. So far all her other choices have looked great.
Your wife has a good color sense, I like that color a lot. It's stylish, warm, have a similar color in my house on some walls. Go with it and don't look back.

That was so cool, enjoyed seeing that in your thread where you posted regarding that shoot, congrats, and you're right, colors make a difference. I like grey don't get me wrong, but a lot of members here go with grey and a stripe, it's apparently very popular and it does look nice when done right. I'm a designer, so I tend to go with more of the colors you would use in your house, which is why I'm making my garage look more like an extension of my home just in a work shop theme.

 If you want brighter just add more lighting, painting walls white to get things brighter makes for a sterile looking garage when you can just add more light instead.

I'm planning on painting the cabinets black as well, to match my tool chest.

I like light green and white. To me, its more important that I like the space and like to be there than anything else. And yes, you can always add more lighting.

I'm in the process of doing mine now, I decided early on ,no beige, no grey, no stripes and definitely no checkered floor . Asking for suggestions only told me what others liked and although they were sincere and well meaning it was really kind of a **** shoot , seemed every color combination I liked didn't "go together"

I decided to take my que from Kevin , he said " add some color to your life" so that's what I did. One color is as close to the color of a 56 Corvette I had as a kid and the other is almost dead on to a 65 GTO I had as a young man, I'm told they don't go together , buts that's okay I like them, and I'm the one paying the bills [my 67 Corvette is grey and wasn't eligible].

What I'm saying is don't put too much stock in what others like , trust what you like.
Here's what I did. The back corner with the raised panels and the bead board is because I got the materials free

The unfinished walls in my 20x24 were too dark left unfinished, so I went with a light gray that was color-matched to Gladiator Gearwall which is going up along a sidewall. The accent color green is actually the exterior color of the house. The currently unpainted shiplap by the door hides the wiring from the 100-amp subpanel and has a removable panel for easy access.

This scheme works for me. Find what you like and go with that! [EDIT: I didn't realize this was an old thread that someone bumped, but the sentiment applies to anyone else trying to decide on a color(s)]

I didn’t spend thousands in lighting to let it get gobbled up with dark colors.

My walls and ceiling are gloss exterior white superpaint. Washable, dust doesn’t stick as well as eggshell or matte, and it gives really nice lighting for doing fine work.
