I don't think snap on had lifetime warranty back then. I think it was a time period. Could be wrong.

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrench 3061

Alright guys, I need some help...

I've been finding onesy, twosey sockets, ratchets, and now a speeder. I'm just looking for a little more info on these so I know what to look for when I'm out and about. I'm mostly trying to figure out which sets these belong to. Thanks in advance, I've been browsing around the usual sites but this forum seems to have the most put together knowledge. Here is my wartime Ferret set with that speeder. You need to try to find the date code on yours.

Those are all WWII era. Check out the catalogs on the Collecting Snap-on site (e.g., 1945 Catalog Q) for an idea of the sets. If you really want to go down a rabbit hole you can start putting together a 488 Super Service Set (page 2 of the catalog). I've got ~86% of one that I've been working on for about 4 years.

Besides Bill’s amazing Master Set, the wartime 1/2” drive tools were used in sets like the one below issued to WW2 mechanics. This Motor Vehicle Mechanics Tool Set has all Snap-on sockets.

I tried to find the date code on the speeder, but haven't found it. There is a piece chipped out of the shank on the speeder, which I suspect is where the stamp was. I'll check it out tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Thanks for posting that Ferret Set, I found a case on Ebay I might buy so I can start putting stuff where it belongs. Do all pieces have "F-***" stamped on them? Or is it just finding 3/8" pieces from the same years?

Thanks for the help! I'll check it out, I love tripping and falling face first down rabbit holes like this, haha.

The deep sockets start with SF. Here are some cad plated examples ranging from 40 to 44

I was thrilled to find this Snap/on Torq-O-Meter tie-clip at the flea market this morning. :pimpflash

attachment.php

Made of brass. It's a TQ-12-B. The details are incredible, exactly matching the style of torque wrench that Snap/on made in the 40's and 50's. If you're wondering how I know it's a TQ-12-B, rather than, say, a TQ-3 or a TQ-50, for example, it's because the numbers on the dial face are actually legible. It's 0-150 inch-pounds!

This one was made for the "LEAVENS CO." in Attleboro, Mass. I think that's a reference to the Leavens Manufacturing Company, which made jewelry. So maybe it was made by them for Snap/on to give away to others. A complimentary gift kind of thing, at any rate.

Here it is next to its actual model.

Thanks. HAHA! 'Zackly. All I need is a vintage paisley tie and leisure suit. Seriously, if we ever have a big GJ convention somewhere, I am good to go for tie-clasps for the cocktail hour between this one and the Bell System one I found a few years ago, linked here!
You have to find a tie and post a selfie :)

If you bring this Torque Wrench to the convention, you can wear either tie clasp.

I found this 3/8” drive, 1” 12 point socket at an estate sale yesterday. It went into the regular toolbox since it was one I didn’t have.

That is a big socket for that drive size. I only have ever seen a 1" x 3/8" drive and that was a Plomb PWA contract production.

I think it will be good using with a Tee handle and a die for threading operations. I’ve always used a 1/2” drive socket with a reducing adapter in the past.

Early 30's deep 1/2dr socks. 12pt
Seems like the deeps from 29-31 came in different lengths. These are three different lengths of 3/4's all from 31. If you have any deeps from 29-31 that are 2-3/4" or less in height, please holler at me, am trying to make a set.

A No. 52 sliding tee. 3/4 dr. date code 30/31.
No. 52's are hard to find. This one is a odd one, it is 18" long. All the ones in the cats show 22". Ball stops are fixed, with no detent on this one.

Here are most of my working torque wrenches

Left to right, inch-ounce to inch-pound to foot-pound. The second from the right has a Bell system logo on the dial if you look close.

Here are before and after shots of my Blue Point/Snap-on finds at a San Leandro, CA estate sale this morning. No date codes to be found on either tool.

No date codes to be found on either tool.
1955 or later on the Ratcheting Boxocket, Don. From 1935, when they were introduced, to 1953, they had a simple arbitrary numbering system (No. 75, No. 76, etc). In 1955 they went to the R- model numbering system by the number of 32nds. I have a No. 75 (1/2" x 9/16") with an "E" (1945) date code and I have been looking for a wartime No. 76 (5/8" x 11/16") to make a matching pair forever. They only made those two during the war. I thought it was going to be relatively easy to complete, but every time I see one it is either a different brand, or, if it's a Snap-on, inevitably it's a post-1955 R- series.

You may recall the set in my NAF toolbox. I had to resort to eBay to find the second one.
