What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Didn't really work anything in the shop today, but was once more totally blown away by Mohawk lifts. I am in the process of restoring my second Mohawk lift in the shop, this time a System I that is being added to the System II already in there. I needed some parts, stainless tubing, and rebuild kits for the pistons. First off, the customer service, as always, was exceptional. People actually caring about their products even after 30 years, spending time figuring out exactly what parts are needed, sending documentation back and forth, etc.

Then, the order process itself just so very pleasant, perfect communication during every step. No, they aren't cheap, neither are the parts (although NOT overpriced!) but there is good reason for it.

Today I received the shipment (had to truck ship because of the length of some of the straight runs of SS tubing) and I was once more blown away. All (custom made to order) lines and other parts came super clean, with plugs on all ends, mounted with spacers that have rubber grommets resting on the tubing onto a beautiful piece of board that will certainly be turned into a shelf or something at some point. Everything nicely protected with foam where needed and neatly shrink wrapped. I was blown away. So, here just some kudos to the folks at Mohawk. They definitely don't fail to impress!

Made some headway in cleaning up the shop. Also started installing some aluminum angle edging to one of the benches. Have a lot more edging to do.

Today I began tearing into the engine on my 1985 CB650 Nighthawk. It has been seeping oil for some time and I am finally opening it up to replace the gaskets. I am not looking forward to putting things back together.

R. Deshane, Fabricated up a stand for my post vise out of some 1/2" steel plate and a 9" scrap hunk of I-beam.

I have the same vice set up with I-beam and plate steel for the fabrication. I love the weight and stability of the design.

Well really last night... I realized how inadequate my SAE tools are, while I have several options for metric wrenches and sockets. Picked up a Wheelhorse 312-8 about a week ago and working on it last evening was frustrating at times. My biggest impact socket in standard size is 3/4" and my biggest socket I have is 1". The blades use a 1 1/8" nut [emoji2359]. Then I have several options for offset or flex head ratcheting metric wrenches, but the only ratcheting wrenches are not offset at all, and my low pro sockets are metric only... Had to use the non-offset wrench to remove the rusted bolts holding the seat on so I could replace it. Oh well, guess I know what to ask for for Christmas now!

I want to get back to responding to everyone about the York brand furnaces. Thank you for all of your replies. They sound like a reputable manufacturer. I have heard of all the big name brands (Goodman, Bryant, Amana, Trane, Etc), but never knew of York previously. I learn something new everyday.

They were probably one of the worst ignitions ever made. A flint an steel might have been better. IDK if that's an oil filled coil or not, but oil filled coils don.t like to be laid on their side like that. I'm going to assume it's not if it's been that way for any length of time.

I've heard the unilites have had issues. I probably only have a few hundred miles on the car since restoration so I've probably gotten lucky.

I have only had it on the car for a year or so to get it and running. Just placed an order for an MSD distributor, 6AL, and wires. That will be my project for this weekend.

Thanks for the tip on the coil! I need to find a vertical mount for it.

Nice. Great minds think alike! I am adding a lip and rail around the top got tongs and top tools, just as an added feature. Making it a little more useful.

Day 2 of the CB650 engine tear down. The engine is torn down to the short block. I'm still going to replace the oil pan gasket and clutch, but those are going to wait until the cylinders and cams are all back together. Now begins the long process of scraping gaskets and cleaning surfaces. I'm also going to touch up the paint on the cylinders and valve cover before going back up with things.

Got all my sockets, ratchets, etc, into one drawer. Went through a bit of a downszing to get them to all fit. Sold a bunch duplicates sockets, some ratchets, 3/4 sockets I never use anymore, older Cornwell impact sockets. But it really was not a downsizing. It was a repurpasing of funds. Made enough to buy a new M12 1/4 impact, Sunex 3/8 and 1/4 Sae and Metric impact sets. Plus some new Westling sockets trays, new lugnut impacts and some odds and ends.

I cleaned the work bench off just enough to open the fresh delivery from Rock Auto Parts. I needed some parts, sooner rather than later, so I included all the other parts I have been meaning to purchase. I have parts for three different vehicles lined up. All three have a small problem lingering about. I guess it's time to work on one of them. The F250 has a bad wheel speed sensor making the ABS malfunction, the Fusion has an issue that needs diagnosed (possibly something with the O2 sensor heating circuit), and the old Flat Thunder truck needs everything. The old truck has a new mastercylinder and a brake booster. The braking system on the old girl isn't overly powerful. Nevermind the fact it also needs a cab swap and new cat back mufflers.

Put 3 ignition coils in my dads 2004 Camry we replaced the other one a few months ago and yesterday another went out and since you replace them in pairs we put the other 3 in today.

Repaired a fairly new Ironton retractable cord reel that would no longer latch. Simple fix once you get it opened as there is known issue I found after quick search in which the latch mechanism is over tightened when it was assembled.

Dug out the front of it for concrete next week......in the rain...... like an idiot because today and tomorrow are my only days off. So now, at least for the time being, I have waterfront property. But, hopefully before thanksgiving, I’ll finally have a complete level, non dirt floor in my garage after 5 years of owning my house.

The strip came from Home Despot. Here's a link to the one I ordered. It was recommended by a buddy who uses them in an industrial setting. I wanted more outlets in the garage without having to add more circuits. Especially since the single duplex will be covered up with the pegboard I still have to add. This was his suggestion as a solution.

I did a Stainless Steel top like that and carried the back around the sides too....

Probably the last time it will ever be that clean too - ask me how I know! :sad:

Today was mostly yard work mowing and bagging leaves. I then pulled my engine parts out of the tubs I had them soaking in degreaser overnight and rinsed them off. Next is sanding and painting.

I am new to the forum, just registered. Today I assembled some laser Christmas lights and got a couple of treadmill motors and controllers working. One will go in my South Bend 10K and the other will either go on my 1 x 30 HF belt sander or my 9" bandsaw.

Now all I have to do is pull the accumulator and put the wiring harness back in place.
