Here's the Sears Super 12 tractor I picked up for $50 on Saturday. The rear 3 point lift is worth $100 by itself, more if the darn center link wasn't missing. I bought a couple of Sears tractors in July and now I own 6 LOL. 1 will be going up for sale soon.

I answered a Marketplace ad for this Plomb 9980 tool chest full of misc sockets & drive tools. A large percentage of the stuff was Chinese junk but there were also lots of Bonney, Craftsman, SK, and even a few Snap-on sockets. All but one ratchet were Chinese with the lone good one being an SK frankenstein ratchet. I went for the Plomb tool chest but wasn't disappointed with the other stuff. I paid $50.

So Brian, do you figure you got the tools for free or the box for free?

Yeah, You ****!

That IH socket set is missing 9 out of 25 pieces, including all drive tools, and they are up to WHAT? Yeah, that qualifies as stupid $$.

Yeah, You ****!

That question is more difficult to answer than many might think, but I'll have to go with the tools being free since I raced across town just before the start of rush hour(s) traffic (which typically starts around 2:30 PM here in Portland) to buy the tool box for a great price. That is to say, I would have paid $50 for that box even if empty!

Looks like a fun project tractor, bluebolt! Looks pretty complete, even if rough.

Nice score, Riley!

Ag tractors the top link is not considered part of the three point assembly and sold separately. Is that different for garden tractors?

For the Sears 3 point it was sold as an assembly with all the links. The top links are often missing and sell for $80 and up by themselves on Ebay.

Picked up 2 ratcheting screwdrivers at a local antique marketplace today. The top one is a "Fulton" brand made in Germany, and the bottom is a Yankee No. 30 made between 1908-1915. Picked them up for $8 total and they work like new!

I'm only just starting my tool collection and you guys on this thread have made me jealous with all your flea market finds. Thank you for sparking my newest addiction!

I hit two sales today. At the first one I picked up the Champion DeArment #407 Channellocks and the VACO Plierwrench #86070 for $1 each.

The second sale had a little more to offer. The Matco SDM R106 was $3. The 1/2" Penens group actually wasn't grouped. All the sockets were in a baggie for $4. It was missing the 3/4" (again!) and the one I had at home in my stash is cracked stem to stern. The two odd sockets are a CM =vv= and a Wizard.
#1675 Speeder $6
#1661 Ratchet $5
#1666 5" Extension $1

These appear to be the basics of a decent set. Does anyone know if there was a designated set that contained these elements and what is missing--besides the 3/4" socket, of course.

I have a ca. late 1940's PENENS PRC-2000 37-piece Master Wrench Set in a carry box, OR, and a thread dedicated to it here. In that thread others (including Beemer and Don) have added smaller PENENS sets. And there is a 1950 Fleet PENENS catalog either on TA or IA. I'm pretty sure there were a few smaller sets in there. If you can't find it, I will post some excerpts in the thread I linked later.

Small haul (Lugz 2021_05) from the flea market this morning.

I actually don't own any offset RIDGID pipe wrenches, so I was thrilled when I saw this one, not only because it was on the table of a guy I knew would sell it for a buck, but because it is wartime, with a 1943 code.

I'm a sucker for vintage handline sets. I have a few smaller ones, but this one looks military and has the paperwork. See far right pocket. The vellum is so delicate I did not want to try to open it there, so I don't yet know the mfgr or any possible dates or date hints. Looks at least 50's to me, maybe earlier.

I snagged this toolbox at an auction for $100. It had about $200 worth of tools in it so I guess I did ok. I cant tell what year this was made. I know other boxes have a code stamped on them but this has nothing but the snapon badge and some mouse poo in the drawers. IMG_3305.JPGIMG_3306.JPG

OR - love both pliers in that purchase!

Lugz - vintage military fishing gear?! I did not know!

handmadeMI - unfortunately that logo didn’t change much from 1947 through 1980. Maybe someone with more expertise can say. There’s got to be some kind of tells, like the handle, or the drawer slides, or the lock...

After a new year of tool hunter drought I picked these two up this morning for $20 each. The problem is the box restores are starting to stack up... I’m somewhat comforted by the fact that I’ve seen some of your garages and figure I have a long way to go.

Emergency fishing gear. It was for survival. They were put on lifeboats and in other survival kits. It's an amazing kit. I've been mucking around with it all day and I just did some quick research. I'm about to do a "Curator's Corner #2" on it on my 'The Lugzsonian - A Virtual Tour' thread. I'll post a link here later. EDIT: Link here.

HandmadeMI, this is definitely after 1955. Likely 60s-70s. Carefully look for a small stamp on the right or left sides or possibly the back. Stamps are usually on the bottom of the panel in

Went to another barn sale today, this time not as far away and much more interesting. The only thing not pictured is my $1, nearly new, shop apron I was wearing when I took the photos.

First group at $3 a pop:
- 9" Starrett No. 23 Combination Square (the center finder looks like Starrett but seems to require a wider rule--I'll have to look at it more closely)
- Two Snap-on 3/8" Crow feet; 2-1/2" and 1-15/16" from '62 & '60--I thought they would be older.
- Two Wright Air Corps ratchets; 1/2" N-60 & 3/8" MN-60, both from '42.
- Snap-on M-44 9/32" speeder
- Williams ST-1230 socket (this was only $1)
- Armstrong 3/8" F-40 hinge handle

15 Jan 21-1a.jpg15 Jan 21-1c.jpg15 Jan 21-1b.jpg

Next was a sturdy little no-name box that I initially assumed was empty because it was priced at $15. When I swung back around later and looked inside I found all kinds of goodies!

Highlights:
- Indestro Super 372 Screwdriver
- Par-X UDS 104 Screwdriver
- Amalite Screwdriver--see pic#3 below. Not sure what the fuss is with Amalite--sharp edges and not very comfortable in the hand
- Mil Std Corp 2224284 Had to look that one up. Wicked pointy thing, apparently a cotter pin puller from the same folks that brought you the Snoopy wrench.
- Bergman O' Buffalo, Queen City 4" Adjustable
- Proto U.S. 4870 9/32" universal joint

But the nicest surprise was the load of Snap-on that was in the box, including:

- 1/2" Drive Breaker Bar Ratchet Adapter SV67
- (2) 3/8" Drive Breaker Bar Ratchet Adapters F67B
- (6) 3/8" Drive 12-Point Universal Sockets (no date code)
- (5) 1/4" Drive 12-Point Universal Sockets (1980)

If you're referring to a Dzus tool, I'm curious what you mean by the "from the same folks that brought you..." part. Snoopies were first fabricated by the San Antonio Air Depot (SAAD) in the 30's and during WWII but quickly outsourced to others (including Camillus, the electrician's knife empire, btw!). Is it marked "SAAD"? Or "Mil Std Corp"? I am not familiar with the company, but MIL-STD terminology is postwar. I'm interested in seeing the actual marking on the cotter pin puller, please.

I don't doubt you for a second! I got this pic from "Worthpoint" and I'm sure it was one of the outsourced companies. The lettering on my tool is poorly cast. This is the best angle to read it.

Craftsman V wrench, am pro 3” extension, sk Wayne 1/4 ratchet with a rebuild kit already in it, craftsman 1/4” extension and 10mm deep socket, couple of Wayne 1/4” sockets, and couple of 1/4” craftsman v sockets. Williams Phillips stubby. Tekton angle nose slip joints were nos. Pickings seem to be getting slimmer for me.

So I saw a FBMP add for $10.00 filing cabinets. One of them was a tall card catalog so I reached out and made contact with the owner. We picked it up this morning and it's in really nice shape.

It's a Shaw Walker cabinet that is setup for cards. I need to remove the "side fillers" to get the full width and give it a cleaning. The OD paint is in good enough shape that it doesn't REQUIRE a repaint at this time.

** It's been a storage type of week. On Sunday we saw a curb alert for a storage cabinet and ran and grabbed it. It's lighter weight but has full roller slides that just needed to have the petrified grease removed and the bearings re-lubricated. It REALLY needs a repaint as it's UGLY.

We are in the middle of a major craft area shuffle to make space for a new 3d printer. Not sure if the beige cabinet will find a home or get offered back up to the curbside gods for good karma.

Cheers

Jim

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum......

Earlier up this thread was a discussion about the passionate (polite word) collectibility of 1980s International "IH Chrome" tools. I had discovered a 3/8" breaker bar that, upon seeing what it is about to realize on Bay, compelled me back to the flea market looking for more. Found another little piece that is missing from the astoundingly price partial socket set that went for $609 on Ebay.

After that, I went to an estate sale feeling good about my $1 (the dealer named his price) that is bound to multiply many fold. For about 40% less than the breaker bar is at right now on Ebay, I bought what you see here. Perspective.
