Funny, I was in there today and scooped the cut off discs and the split tip bits, was considering the hex bit set as well but passed on it. By the looks of the pics the case looks great and I'll be heading back tomorrow. LOL. I love their sales.

Last sale I ended up getting the Mastercraft Maximum 1/2" torque wrench for half off or there abouts. Most of my hand tools are mastercraft maxiumum and they're all holding up really well. Would like to get some tool truck and German stuff down the road but that would be for the tool **** aspect of it. This stuff that I have now is more pedestrian and basic but it gets the job done.

IMHO this bit screwdriver set is the deal of the week at CTC. It's maybe not a Wera, but it is among the handiest tools I own, and can't beat it at that price point. If you don't have one, get one and you'll probably be surprised at how handy it is.

I thought about picking up the bit set, but I already have a set of standard length metric Allen bits. The case is nice, would make a great 1/4" drive socket box, but there are alternatives.

Yes forgot that one (thought it was last week's flyer) It is indeed the handiest little wrench set they sell. Great for getting stubborn screws out in restricted places as you can bear down on that ratchet as the bit is "contained"

I do much of my Christmas shopping with these specials and put them away. My wife has family in Newfoundland, they see these specials but it is an all day journey to get them..........hardly worthwhile.

The Canadian Tire cut off discs are junk... :(

That's simply not true..............they may not be Walter "Zip Cuts" but they do the job and do reasonably last. I have both on hand and regularly cut 3/8" plate with them.

Just picked up a Mastercraft Maximum 3/8" Micro Head Ratchet (same as Stanley/Proto/Mac Micro Tough ratchets) on clearance for under $23. Going to get a 1/2" model as well once that goes on sale.

I picked up the Fat max bit set with the last of my CTC money. Last one on the shelf. I worked for Canadian Tire in their distribution center as a kid. They were always getting grief for being out of stock. That was 30 years ago. things haven't changed much. If you want a pair of anything you'd better plan on hitting multiple stores and on the first morning of the sale!

Other than the odd exception (like the U.S. made extractors referenced here) I no longer buy anything at Cdn Tire regardless of price, the only exception is what I call consumables, stuff like engine oil, chemicals, cleaning supplies, paint and maybe the odd auto part. 90% of what Cdn Tire carries in all departments is offshore garbage. If I want that stuff I'll go to the dollar store.

That kind of comment shows you are not paying attention, There are genuine bargains there if you take the time to keep informed. Most of us are DIYers here and we are never going, to wear out many of those on sale items.

A couple of examples.....6" MASTERCRAFT digital caliper for $10, 3/8" MASTERCRAFT socket set $13 (both guaranteed forever).

One item I have noticed is that lighted magnetic retriever tool is flogged on sale at a lot of places for $5-10, but it is a dollar store item if you really want one.

Lots of good deals..............all you have to do is recognize them.

Well put, lilredex. Any store (Snap On trucks, too) has a mix of **** and good stuff. As an informed consumer, one needs to do their homework and decide what is well made, and what is a good deal.

Posting stuff like "Canadian Tire just sells junk" is useless. Let's avoid future threadcrapping here. Perhaps we can just post deals, and let members decide for themselves if they are going to buy them? I believe this position is supported not only by the moderators, but by the owner of this site, as well.

Back to the bargains ;)

IMO, the Walter's last at least 3X the CT. Enough for me not to buy them. But I agree, at this price, they are cheap!

Still, I buy 75% of my tools at CT. :)

So, can we turn this post into our "offical CT deals thread" for us Canadian?

the msrp is a little out of proportion but still a good deal, 165 for a 22gal CH compressor.

trying to decide which would be the lesser of the two evils right now, this or the $200 chinese snap-on at costco thats 20gal and has a cast pump

I checked.....this compressor isn't sold at many Canadian Tires. I'm pretty familiar with the stock of all 4 stores here and I've never seen it.

I went to customer service yesterday about it and the guy looked up a bunch of those compressors for me. Most of them have not been sold by Canadian Tire in years......they must be trying to get rid of old stock if there's any left in the stores.

Anyways, only one of the compressors on sale is regularly stocked at Canadian Tire. In this province anyways.

This week CT has their Mastercraft Maximum open end ratcheting 7 pc. wrench sets in SAE and Metric on sale for 65% off ($27ea. I think). Kind of gimmicky but at a good price point.

I enjoy this thread. If you know CTC's obvious marketing strategy, you know to only buy on special and take advantage of their no questions asked guarantees. Reading the CTC flyer on Wednesday night (in my case) is a tradition that I (and many other Canadians) have been doing for 20 years!

Never buy at less than 50% off and if you can wait 60-70% off isn't unusual. I doubt they sell a lot at full retail price.

picked up the 14 pc. 3/8 drive torx/pozidrive and flat/philips/robertson sets for $9.99 each. They'll go nicely with the metric/sae hex bit sockets I bought last year for the same price!! my only complaint with the torx set is that it doesn't have a T47 bit. Ran across places where I've needed them in the past on GM's. May have to look at buying one the next time I need one.

Just bought this Stanley Power pack for 69$ (Stanley Jumpstarter/Mobile Power Pack, Product #11-1593-6). Regular price is 119$.

http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/3/BatteryAccessories/BatteryBoosting/PRD~0111593P/Stanley%252BJumpstarter%25252BMobile%252BPower%252BPack.jsp?locale=en

I used to replace my lawnmower trator battery every year (around 50-60$) so I bought this instead and it started easy just with this power pack. 500 Amp starting power seems optimistic but it get the job done.

My old 300amp Motomaster power pack was barely anough to jump start a car and would not start the tractor without a battery. This one seems way stronger. :)

have you ever tried leaving a trickle charger on your battery? that's what I do on my lawn tractor and haven't had an issue yet.

No, that would be a solution but the tractor is stored far from an electrical output. But I use my trickle charger for the snow plowing rig.

Having a power pack is so usefull for the other junk in the driveway. :)

Went in for some sandpaper today and cam out with this as well.

<a href="http://www.freeimagehosting.net/5083a"><img src="http://www.freeimagehosting.net/newuploads/5083a.jpg"></a>

Was on final clearance (red tag) sale for 29.99. which is at least half price that i could see from looking back through the price tags still stuffed in the holder on the display.
