What did you do "IN" your garage today?

You just need to make sure your hose is "T-rated." Most acetylene hoses are "R-rated" or R-Grade, which can only be used with acetylene. Propane will degrade the rubber from the inside out. T-Grade hose can be used with pretty much anything, including propane and acetylene. Then you just need torch tips that are meant for propane. And that's pretty much it. The acetylene regulator will screw right onto a regular 20 lb propane grill tank.

Thanks. I need some new hose anyway so I will be sure to pick up "T-rated" hose when I replace it. Are the propane tips larger or smaller than acetylene tips?

They look a little bigger. Here's a picture of a propane cutting tip on the left, and an acetylene tip on the right.
Edit: I don't know why my pictures always show up sideways. Propane tip is on bottom, acetylene tip on top.

Finished lining the snowblower with HDPE. It was gumming up last year, a quick test run indicates there is improvement.

Changed out the thermostat on a 2004 Impala LS. She was getting a P0128 code. Found some broken/cracked hard pipe vacuum lines that need fixing too. Running good now.

Care to share your modification?

Tommy

I will try to get some pics tomorrow. A typical Darwyn mod, way overkill and way over budget on time! :)

I was going to put rubber paddles on the impeller, but got a cheap sheet of HDPE on Ebay (probably because it was green). So I lined the impeller housing, which left the paddle/housing clearance at close to zero and I lined the chute.

I fastened it using countersunk flat head machine screws. I had to cut a few small pieces for around where the chute mounts to the blower. This was a trouble spot last year, but it took a lot of patience getting the pieces fitted.

I blew some snow today. There is one spot on the front of the chute that didn't get covered with the HDPE, and it had snow buildup. The rest of it looked great!

I've been helping dad with his new garage at his winter place, we (he I and some friends) are putting OSB up inside, hope to finish that tomorrow or Tuesday, at the latest.

We took today off to get groceries and sundries, picked up a welding cart from Harbor Freight, the one on sale with the cabinet in it.

So today, we loaded a workbench / table we found at a garage sale, assembled the welding cart and installed the gas cylinder, welder, cord and consumables in, on and around said cart.

Took apart and cleaned my new snap on toolbox, still trying to figure out what model it is.

I think it's a KRL 1001BPC

Looks like the design is different too so it's not just picking a larger or smaller tip. I'll have to check with my welding supply store. Thanks again.

Removed the front end plastics from my Can-am Outlander to get access to the radiator. It needed an extensive flush out. Once I finished this I went ahead and mounted the plow and then hooked up the battery tender to make sure its ready for a snow fall. Wish I had more time to spend in the garage. However the wife is working until 7 and I am on daddy duty until she get off and by the time she is off I have 0 motivation especially since its dark here at 5 pm.

I converted two of my old 4 foot florescent lighting fixtures over to LED.

I bought them on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/css/order-history?ie=UTF8&ref_=nav_nav_orders_first&

I am very happy with them, they are really bright, use half the electricity and are bright in cold weather.

The conversion process basically consists of gutting the old fixture and some light wiring. After doing the first one it took ten minutes to do the second one. The worst part of the job is taking them down and putting them back up.

Gotta ask what a guy with an LSU avatar is doing in NY? And apparently knows something about snowblowers?

I was at LSU from '87 - '93. Military duty and the bars in Tigerland extended my stay a bit.

Your link goes to "Your Orders" (in this case my orders). Can you try re-posting it as I'm curious to see what you used.

I changed the oil on my two motorcycles. I'm storing them at a friend's house for the winter and I'm hoping I can get the garage a lot more organized in that time.

Re: What did you do "IN" your garage today?

After spending a good 4ish hours plowing snow at home, helping the neighbors out with their driveways, and having the blade disconnect itself 10 or 15 times I pulled the atv into the shop to dry out, and investigate the plow attachment and find a fix.

Gave the new 3.5 Ton Big Red Jack a workout (ok it didn't even wince) lifting the atv up to see underneath. Looks like the permanent mounted part of the plow frame has taken a beating, resulting in the round stock that they use to hold the rear of the blade frame in being bent slightly.

Plan is to possibly increase the length of the tongue that fits into that slot to allow for some moveability.

While I had the blade off, I figured I'd hit the front of the frame with the wirebrush (as the paint was flaking in rather large pieces), then hit it with some primer and leftover gloss black I had.fe6592481919d0e0b86f2e9f64f85d3a.jpg

Shoveled off the driveway twice, then went back to scratching my head on how to get the new throttle cable on my Yamaha snowblower. Yet again KISS prevailed and it was me trying to overcomplicate things.

I was trying to make it hold in on this side of the silver plate, of course it was having none of it. I thought I had some parts missing (which I do) but couldn't figure out how those parts would make the cable hold, until I noticed it was me over complicating things as I almost always do, and the solution was right in front of me. Took it for a few spins afterwards and it works! Still need to adjust the cable better and replace the two belts but that can wait for now.

Last night I borrowed my cousin's enclosed trailer to load up some of the shop. He was kind enough to offer it to us during the move. This way I can load up stuff from the shop one night without worrying about it getting weather on it then haul it over to the new house the next night. Made a HUGE dent in the shop last night.

Almost done, the final assembly of a 6 month project, a custom foosball table. Just need the play field vinyl wrapped and the final patina. Then deliver.

It was pretty cold here this weekend so I didn't work outside. Instead I put a new front hub/bearing in my mothers Buick. Normally I don't look forward to those jobs but for the first time in my life I had a hub bearing that just came out of the steering knuckle with a couple of taps. But I actually had to use a wheel puller to get the hub off the axle spline, it was kinda tight.

The garage was nice and warm. We didn't even have a garage until I was a teenager, and it wasn't heated. Mine is heated and the AC is going in this spring. I wish my dad had lived to see this.
